In my area (Marianna FL in the Florida Panhandle) we get most of the HD channels Comcast offers with the following exceptions, DIY HD, Cooking HD, Sportsman Channel HD, and Outdoor HD.
In the Comcast service areas around us, Dothan AL, Tallhassee FL, and Panama City FL, all get the channels above in HD.....but not my area.
I have no idea why these areas which surround us get these channels and we don't....... any ideas?
Number one reason is capacity. If Comcast can add more channels they usually do. Number two is very important, they do what they want! LOL, no but really Comcast is very odd. They say low HD channels in some markets are due to older networks which haven't been upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0 but that is usually BS. They also say network congestion can also have something to do with it, which is also BS. The only real one they can use it older unincorporated Comcast annexed areas which were added into Comcast but not upgraded. In South Florida we used to have a ton of these areas but Comcast has done pretty well upgrading them all. Basically there is no real rhyme or reason, at least they will tell us. Maybe your neighborhood is poor and they figure why bother upgrading if no one can afford it? who knows?

Marianna, FL | Thanks for the info....I got a call yesterday from a Comcast care rep who stated she was unable to say if/when those missing channels would ever be added......and that Comcast was trying to standardize there channel line up......
Oh well.... not really surprised with the response..... |
