fartnesscomputersoc dot comPremium join:2003-03-25 Look Outside | Output of chargers? I'm reading the label on the charger of my Verizon hotspot and Verizon phone. Both use the same connectors to connect to the devices. The hotspot says "1.1V output" and the phone says ".7V output"... is that in reference to charging them? Can I switch around which device I charge on them? Since the phone came with the .7V output, if I use the 1.1V output, will it charge faster? |

Why would you use a different power supply than whats given?
Do you want to burn up your phone, and have to buy a new one?
Think!

-j most phones come with a 5v @ 1amp charger.
cheapo phones only have 0.5amp chargers -- Well, does your car at least turn into something else? Sometimes I turn it into a trashcan. Hmm... |

just been a crap day, bleh..
my bad fartness

 | reply to fartness As said you are probably looking at the current limits 1.1A and .7A @ 5v
As long as the voltage is correct, it can be a 1000 amp power supply and it will work fine, but it will not charge any faster, but using a higher voltage is NOT a good idea if you want to keep the magic smoke inside.
Sometimes those "Buts" can kill ya. |

In Fartness's case the hot spot needs the added power and probably larger battery to operate, than the phone but I wouldn't see the 1.1A slight difference used for both as a big problem. though could shorten' the phones battery life slightly... conversely the .7A charger would just slower charge the hot spot and maybe not keep up with it operational at the same time.
My electric bike has a 2A standard charger but even though the manufacturer sells a 4A fast charger... if you look at the manufacture specs for the type SLA batteries in the pack they all say they should not be charged at over 2A for maximum life.
