 | Electrical repair advice needed wire |
I started tearing up my kitchen floor today so I can install tile. I pulled the dishwasher out of the cabinet and found the electrical wire has had both the outer jacket worn off as well as the insulation on the black worn off.
What are my options? The wire runs through the finished basement ceiling. I'm not against cutting a hole in the drywall in the basement but I don't want a hidden junction box. My gut tells me that it's not ok to just wrap the wire in electrical tape but if you say otherwise, I'll go for it. I do have a little slack so I could do a junction inside the dishwasher cutout but the wire nuts would be an inch or 2 from the hole in the floor. |

 | Its too damaged to repair. It'd be better if you have the slack and room to mount a Jbox on the floor under the dishwasher. Run armored cable----BX to the dishwasher. Put a cover on the box and use the right connectors. |

Could you post a picture better showing the overall area that this damaged wiring is located? The fact that it is damaged this way is concerning, and I would take steps to better protect the wiring to prevent such damage from occurring in the future. I don't really like the way it simply comes up through a hole in the floor like that. |

Is this the wire for the dishwasher? |
