Re: $39 electrical connector for $7 @ Lowe's

Looks like someone is using this clearance price to their advantage.

Lowe's here has been discounting connectors like that as well. They told me they changed suppliers and are liquidating their old non-stock items.

My question is what could be the reason they're selling a $39 connector for $7

Another reason is that Lowes paid $3.50 for the part and had an incredible markup.

I'm probably going to make a 20 to 25 foot cord and I'm going to use 10-4 SJOOW wire.

Are you upsizing the wiring if you're extending the cable?

Oh, it's a Bryant device. I had forgotten about Hubbell acquiring the Bryant brand.

Never seen a Hubbell twist-lock that looks like that. Nor have I ever seen Hubbell wiring devices anywhere besides supply houses.

Never seen a Hubbell twist-lock that looks like that. Nor have I ever seen Hubbell wiring devices anywhere besides supply houses. The last box of 20A switches I picked up were made in China so I guess there is no need to pay the Hubbell premium now.

My question is what could be the reason they're selling a $39 connector for $7 and if I use it will it burn the house down if wired properly.

Probably, it really doesn't take too much power (less than 30 amps) when applied properly to burn down a house.

None the less for $7 it's a deal.

Too much stale inventory, especially if the company is making a packaging change and/or Lowe's is dropping them as a supplier.

Opened previously...??

Should be good. Just inspect it for obvious defects when installing.

Stopped by my local Lowe's this afternoon and I noticed they had an L14-30R connector that usually sells for $39 clearanced for $7. It is made by Hubbel. The reason I wanted this is so I can make a longer cord for my generator as the one included with the transfer switch was only 10 feet. The plug was full price.

My question is what could be the reason they're selling a $39 connector for $7 and if I use it will it burn the house down if wired properly.

They usually carry Pass & Seymour Legrand products but they have this Hubbel connector for $7.

I've experienced ImOn (when they were McLeod USA), Mediacom, Comcast, and Time Warner and I currently have DirecTV. They are much better than broadcast TV.

I have not and will not cut the cord.
