[Wi-Fi] Messages injected into web pages over Xfinity WiFi Hotsp

With all the news recently about ads being injected by cable companies, I thought it was interesting when I was connected to a Xfinity WiFi hotspot on my iPad and saw a message injected into a web page I was visiting telling me I was using an Xfinity WiFi hotspot.

The message wasn't an ad and it disappeared briefly after it displayed and didn't come back (one time thing it appears), but it's still injected content

Probably similar to this

Hopefully more and more sites switch to SSL, even if non-critical, to prevent this sort of nonsense.

Sounds about as intrusive as the "helpful" popup Windows 7 throws when plugging/unplugging an audio device.

A one time per session "Station Identification " message seems reasonable.
I'd agree it was a problem if it also included an ad, or promotion of other products.

I agree that in it's current form it isn't unreasonable, but the fact that it's being done (pretty much for no reason) is a slippery slope.

So for a 1/2 second something came on your free access to a Wi Fi hotspot?

Am I getting that right. And you think that is bad?

Read the post right above yours. And it's not technically "free", it's included with the paid Comcast HSI.
