they even mentioned the canadian case..the photo's seem to be the issue.
"We are talking about a systematic distributing of a photo involving an intimate body part of hers," Allard said. He said distributing the photo was "equally insidious as the assault." |

They weren't even thinking about re-opening the case until a group of hackers threatened actions. Looks like they were motivated to act and find new information. Motivated because people lost faith in RCMP and now trying to save the embarrassment. At least they didn't hold press conference like TO Police and asked for tips or asked the culprits to surrender. |

That seems to be an accurate reasonable scenario. With the lack of resources available the courts are only willing to prosecute cases where they have enough evidence. At least someone is coming forward. I would have respect for the parents that brought their guilty sons forward to apologize and to say that they are guilty, sorry and after sentencing seeking help. THat would be very very hard but its what they should do. Otherwise the parents are complicit in the crime IMHO.
For anyone questioning why this is going on.......... is really blind to the fact that its been happening for decades but not exposed. you can have all the anonymous you want, and all the police forces you want, there is only so much they can do....our laws need to change, and that starts with the people and politicians we vote for. |

Itll be like taking schools in Ontario who used "expulsion of problem students" as social engineering experiments to the next level.
You cannot mandate involuntary mental health or behavioural treatment for anyone without offering them a chance at a legal defence AND without PROVING they are a danger to themselves or others.
Then again Ontario is the only province in canada with the Mental Health Act. Legislation sufficient enough to mandate this already. |

 | the parents of the the young girl Potts who committed suicide in california, are filing a wrongful death lawsuit... these 3 boys might be tried as adults. a former prosecutor says in california there is actually a statute that allows you to hold parents criminally responsible for injuries, for delinquency of a minor etc...also they were not home when this party took place and therefore it is a unsupervised event by the parent. |

Posters go up supporting boys in Rehtaeh Parsons case
»www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scot···ers.html
I'm all for warning away from vigilantism that can come with these cases, but the message in these posters feels eerily like the response of many to the Steubenville case, where excuse after excuse was made for the accused, and even after being convicted the rapists were receiving more sympathy for their "wasted futures" than the victim ever received. |

A Lurkerthat's Ms Lurker btwPremium join:2007-10-27 Burlington, ON | Oh, it's definitely supporting the boys. Poor little pedo-distributing pornographers need support.
(I say pornographers for there's no question someone took pictures and plenty of people distributed them. With Rehtaeh dead they all be claiming it was consensual, with nobody to tell a different story.) |

It will be interesting to see what they suggest, and if anything actually changes. The thing I don't get is that you would think child porn laws would have applied. If nothing else, seize every phone or computer that sent the picture (don't worry about charging anyone) unless it went to someone in authority to report it. If the police don't have anyone capable on staff of tracking this info, surely they could hire someone.
My god, I think I said it before, but the threat of losing their precious phones might make some of them stop and think before they hit send. I'm not sure you need any new laws to enact this. Collecting evidence in an ongoing investigation would have allowed them to do this. |

This story sounds all to familiar... Until we start holding people responsible for their actions I suspect this type of crap will continue....
quote: Have we learned nothing from the Rethaeh Parsons case?
Is there some problem we have collectively as parents of boys and girls?
In todays Metro, reporter Ruth Davenport interviewed the mother of the girl allegedly victimized by a group of boys in late March.
According to Mom, she picked up her daughter from an all you can drink party, unable to walk after being dragged outside by a group of boys and captured on video having oral sex.
The budding pornographer thoughtfully shared the scene on a social media site.
Then the bullying began by the other kids at her school. Mom says Shes being bullied, being called names by the girls and boys offering bus tickets for blow jobs.
Sound familiar?
The girl is now in counselling, trying to put her reputation and life together
after being made Facebook famous.
Talk to your kids. Tell them to smarten up.
If we dont do something about the behaviour of our teens
it appears that now the police will.
