shattered countertops

7 grand of broken countertops
My brother in law took a large job up in Arkansas which included the installation of numerous countertops.

What he hadn't counted on was the operational condition (or, lack of it) of the on-site forklift. From what I'm told, it bucked or jerked while being driven by one of the installers, enough to back into one of the many vertically stored slabs of surface material. The rest followed like dominos.

The broken pieces were brought back here to Baton Rouge. The attached photo is what's left of what used to be 3-centimeter thick marble, slate and granite.

I wonder if the forklift insurance covers that

Why, if it wasn't running right they should have stopped using it. Nobody can be at fault for not getting work done when citing safety issues.

They should also have had the countertops stored better.
