Splitter at NID defective

Hi everyone,

Hope someone can comment on my problem.I think the tii adsl splitter that was installed by a tech is defective. Even though I have a dsl homerun connection adding or removing a filter on my phone line affects the noise margin. I get from 1-2db more margin when adding a filter to the phone. Is this normal. Also the test jack is messed up since I have to force the cable in it, and keep pressure on or else it wont get a connection. Will Verizon come and replace it for either of these two reasons.

well that's definitely odd. unfortunately, unless it's actually causing major issues, or causing your service to outright fail, verizon is unlikely to fix it, unless you manage to get extremely lucky.

could you post up your whole transceiver stats page?

There ways to test the filter
When there is a nid splitter/filter there is no need to use microfilters

If the nid has multiple test jacks you can switch out the bad one.

That is normal for the nid to be difficult to plug into. It has a gel inside to prevent corrosion. It will snap in but u really need to force it in
