b and g wireless connection to c1000a

My newly installed CenturyLink provided C1000A will not connect to an old Gateway Tablet which has a Intel chip set for b and g and is running XP. My 2012 Lenovos connect just great in n. The C1000A set up shows a choice of b,g,and n. CenturyLink techs unable to solve problelm. Any ideas?

Have you tried changing the security settings on the router?

Windows XP is finicky with WPA2 if i recall (it's been at least six years since i've used it though)

Try using regular WPA and see if you can get in that way?

Had a similar problem. Had to update driver for wireless adapter. Worked perfect after that.

Thanks to you both. Have tried WAP several times with no luck.

CenturyLink techs confirm I have latest update but will double check that myself and see if it works.

Many thanks!

My old Gateway laptop uses only WEP wireless security. I just use ethernet whenever I dust it off! Good luck!
