Cox started it.

Cox bought out @home, so technically @home started it

Cox didn't buy out @Home...it went bankrupt and AT&T bought the fiber. By the time @Home was filing for bankruptcy, Cox and others had already announced they were dumping @Home and going in their own direction.

Can those that have bonding post their signal levels?

Getting some iffy signal levels on my upstream that I think is affecting my ability to bond upstreams and load balance.

Doesn't SB6141 have 8 bonded downstream channels? How come you only have 4?

Yes is does.
I guess my area has only 4 turned on at the moment. This is all I have been bonding since I got the modem a few months ago.

Re: [CA] Upgrades SoCal?

haha me too man, they're taking so long to roll out the speed upgrades.

Waitn

@cox.net

In the past Cox it seemed usually upgraded its SoCal market among the first. I thought this was because Cox's San Diego/OC/LA/SB combined footprint is a huge metropolitan area and major money-maker market. But for some reason this latest speed upgrade is happening here slower than shizzit. Much smaller markets got the upgrade already but all I/we got was the price increase (gee thanks).

Cox are being total Cox.

What firmware are you running? If you're running anything older than 1.0.6.10 try having a tech push you a new firmware. Should allow you to load balance and bond 8 channels.

WOW - The Beast - I haven't seen one of those in years.. Good ol Pre-Docsis Motorola legacy non standard based CMTS... I didn't have COX but I had Time Warner back from 1999-2001 with one of those modems before moving to another area.

Yeah, that Firmware has issues with certain markets ( CA ) I tried a SB6141 for a bit on 1.0.6.8 and wasn't able to bond all 8 channels. PM'd tech to get the newest one pushed and 8 channels were bonded.

It's worth a try!

I contacted CoxHelp on twitter and Dina informed me that 1.0.6.8 was the current firmware for the San Diego market.

Interesting, I'm in irvine and a cox tech on this forum pushed out:

Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.12-SCM00-NOSH
Firmware Build Time: Mar 12 2013 17:48:19

That was the firmware she was going to push to me but she DM'ed later and said that 1.0.6.8 was the current firmware for SD.

It depends on your definition of "latest."
In most areas, 1.0.6.8 is the latest version that will be automatically upgraded and the latest version required since either only 4-channel bonding is enabled, or all 8 channels are contiguous.
In any area, 1.0.6.12 is the latest version we have available to manually upgrade.

Edit: I think that was the DM in question. Should be good to go now, and I don't think you should get rolled back. That was one reason we were hesitating to upgrade in some areas.

I'm really looking forward to these upgrades and am hoping that they happen soon. Currently on the Premier plan but Ultimate will be extremely temping when these upgrades roll out.

@cox.net

When was the last time we got a speed upgrade in San Diego? Seems like years.

jincuteguy

Yea it's been about 5 years since we got any decent upgrade. Like if the Google Fiber hasn't come out, i don't think we would get any upgrades at all.

It's getting comical how long it's taking them to upgrade CA at this point. Really making me feel like a valued customer cox...

I've had Cox for 20 years. Its always been great, even with the high prices. I might be switching TV/Internet provider soon though. I have Premier, and 300gb is just not enough anymore. I got Netflix recently...I tried to cut back on downloads last month, and I still hit 305gb ;(. I am not paying an extra $40 a month for 100gb.

Cox

@cox.net

I agree 100%... Im thinking of replacing cox with 4G wireless since unmetered has gathered motion within the Cellular community
