said by Cox :I agree 100%... Im thinking of replacing cox with 4G wireless since unmetered has gathered motion within the Cellular community I thought this was 100% not true. Companies have gone away from unlimited and started capping at 2-4gb and throttling connections. What 4G service are you talking about? All the unlimited services I have seen throttle after 2gb so netflix would not stream. |

 | Just wondering, who's here are eagerly waiting for the speed increase to happen in SoCal? |

Don't mean to be off topic, but if this ever rolls out will there be any advantage to upgrading my SB6120 to an SB6141 or something else? Is there any advantage to having 8 downstream channels now even at 50mbit? |
|
 | Yea that's what i was wondering too before. After asking a couple people here about having the SB6141 for 8 down channels, the answer was pretty much it will help the speed more reliable since it provides you with more access to 4more channels. So if 4 of the channels are busy, it will choose the other 4 and will still give you the speed you need. |

 | I got a call yesterday from cox asking if I wanted to upgrade our business fiber line from 10/10 to 20/20
So thats something. |
|
|
|
 | Is the 20/20 the new one? |
|
 | Yes 20/20 was not offered to us last year. |

Where are my upgrades cox, it's almost July and you've said jack shit about it so far. I'm starting to get rather upset with the utter disregard for our market. |
|
 | Haha man, i was gonna say the same thing but you beat me to it |
|
 | I just want to bump this thread to the top again to remind both Cox and ourselves that they have significantly upgraded the speeds in most of their markets...except probably their largest and most lucrative - Southern California.
(clap clap clap) Well done, Cox.
But hey, as long as the all-important podunk towns and other large cities got upgraded, who cares about a metro area with more than 10 million people, right? |
|
 | I was gonna bump it too , but you did it |

I want my speed upgraded too but let's be fair here. They aren't waiting out of spite... |

Yea, you guys are right. What was I thinking? I'll just continue to enjoy the Cox rate increases then. More, please.
The priority order list of Cox markets to upgrade is what I'm really fascinated by. I just enjoy watching places like Idaho, Arkansas, and Cleveland, OH (no offense to any of you guys, BTW) get upgrades first before SoCal. And I'm totally cool with paying Ultimate tier rates for U/L or D/L speeds these other Cox markets get on their Premier or Preferred tiers. It's very satisfying, actually.
In all honesty, their internet service around here is otherwise great. I have no complaints except the pace of the network/speed upgrades. It's simply slow as shit. |

Re: [CA] Upgrades SoCal? Still no speed increase and it's July, well almost. |

 | said by jincuteguy:Still no speed increase and it's July, well almost. What speed increase? Nothing to see here! Does Cox not think we notice all the other markets getting the upgrades and we should just be content to pay for less? |

Re: [CA] Upgrades SoCal? Isn't it great to see cox offering IPTV exclusively to our market: »www.engadget.com/2013/06/29/cox-···ch-iptv/ further clogging their network up without offering us the same bandwidth speeds as their other markets? I bet their service even eats into our ridiculously low bandwidth caps. I for one am excited to have the option for IPTV over faster speeds |

 | I talked to a rep about the new dvr a few days ago for san diego/chula vista market. She said she cant officially talk to me about the dvr till july 8th and I asked about speed upgrades coming by the end of the year and she said that by the end of summer speed upgrades should be coming. |
|
 | So end of summer is? around September? |
|
 | I'd place my bets around the Late September to Early October mark. Late September was when they rolled out D3 in the OC area. |

I am. I'm on preferred tier, and despite blowing through the 250GB cap the past 2 months, the only thing that will get me to upgrade to premier is when the upload speed increases. I get a consistent 20Mbps download which I'm fine with. 10Mbps up? That's something to upgrade for. |

So I called Cox, and spoke to 5 different representatives (they had me bouncing back and forth between sales and techs) and no one even knew what I was talking about. I gave up and decided to downgrade my service to Preferred. Funny enough, my speed is the same. Well, it is 5 mbit but it doesn't really matter for me too much, as I just really want the upload. I encourage those who are waiting for the upgrade to just switch over to Preferred to save yourself $12 a month. If the time ever comes, we will basically be back up to Premiere with a nice upload increase if I am not mistaken. I have had Cox for 20 years, and it's really discouraging how they are not able to inform anyone, or even give some sort of incentive for paying so much and remaining their customer. It makes me want to switch service just to spite them, but I do have to give credit where credit is due, and that is in reliability, where DSL has failed me in the past (I tried it out for a few months when I moved to this house 14 years ago). |
|
 | I did the exact same thing. They asked me why i was downgrading from ultimate and i just said the upload speed isn't worth the price. If there is anything i need a big upload pipe for ill just head to the office and use the network there! =D |
