I have Cox Ultimate in Tempe AZ and I've been intending for some time to upload copies of some irreplaceable personal data to the online backup system. Since I don't trust Cox's security arrangements, I put my files into truecrypt containers.
It's been a frustrating experience. Uploads are excruciatingly slow (my estimate is no more than 500 Kbps), and for large files, usually time out.
Today for example, I've already made two attempts to upload a 10 GB archive. The first stalled at 10%, the second at 15%, after about 4 hours of uploading. No apparent way to resume the broken upload.
Is this experience typical? Or is there some way to make this "unlimited" backup ability practical and usable?
Typical. and not just the cox provider services. even if you pay they throttle your upload after a few gigs.
mozy and the like all do it.--
Despises any post with strings.
