If I were getting a new modem though, I would go for the 6141 or the 6180, as they both support bonding 8 channels down, while the 6121 only supports bonding 4. |

Not sure I would go with the SB6141 given the chance again. I would go with the SB6121 for sure. The SB6141 seems to give me nothing but problems. |

I use that Motorola SB6121 and it works great on my Comcast 50Mbps/10Mbps connection. That Motorola SB6121 cable modem supports the original DOCSIS 3.0 of 2006. 4 channel's at 171.52 (152) Mbit/s 122.88 (108) Mbit/s. So unless your cable provider offer's anything faster than that and you don't plan on going faster than the cable modem will do then you will be just fine with this cable modem. My local cable provider Comcast offers 50Mbps/10Mbps and 105Mbps/20Mbps and even 305Mbps/65Mbps. Just for me to upgrade to the 105Mbps/20Mbps will run me $250 just for the upgrade. The 50Mbps/10Mbps is more than I'll ever need. |

I already bought the sb6121 from newegg it arrives tomorrow. Thanks fro the info though. Actually I'm with Cox's preferred plan. I don't know why I have to buy the SB6141 since I'm not signed up with their Ultimate plan. I just have a question about this modem though. Right now I have a docsis 2 modem (linksys cm100) that I bought 4 years ago. This modem works fine the speed that I get here is found below. If I install the sb6121 tomorrow would I get a much different result? I mean I would get speeds of 35 to 50 mbps for the download? |

I'm not familiar with Cox plans, but if you're paying for more than 30, you'll get it with the new modem. If your current plan is only 30, then it won't make a difference. |

I pay $56 per month at speeds of 25mpbs |

It won't make your connection any faster. You're already getting 26mbps out of a 25mbps connection. |

The tech support guy at Cox was recommending a modem/router gateway. I told him that my wireless router would be rendered useless if I got this instead. Anyway thanks for the info. |

Yeah and I don't recommend the wireless router/modem combo setups. The wireless doesn't really seem to work that well compared to even a home wireless AP. |
