Need Help

Hello guys, im planning on buying a computer from cyberpower pc the gamer extreme 1000 Since its the cheapest one. Firstly the games i am going to play on it are world of war craft, minecraft, cod 2, And future Shooter games,Dota 3. Now my biggest consern in the gpu, i mean i dont wanna spend alot, I was thinking is the gtx 660 or 650 gonna run those games on high setting fine?
Specs?:
Processer: i5-3570k 3.40 ghz
Motherboard: [CrossFireX] GIGABYTE GA-Z77-HD3 Intel Z77 Chipset DDR3 ATX Mainboard w/ IRST, Ultra Durable 4 Classic, 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, 2x Gen3 PCIe x16, 2x PCIe x1 & 2 PCI
Memory: 8 GB (4gbx2) Dd43/1600mhz dual memory Corsair vengance
Gpu:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB 16X PCIe 3.0 Video Card EVGA superoverclocked???? I choose this one because it 10$ more then one of the gtx 650's I mean will this run the games above?? Or i can get The same gtx 660 with 3gb and i pay 60$ more.
Power Supply: 600 Watts - Corsair CMPSU-600CXV2 Builder Series CX600
Hard Drive: 1TB
Software: Windows 7 professional

So does this look good for the games im going to play?

Where are you reading about DOTA 3?

Anything can run COD2 and WoW...

EVGA has always treated me right, I had to RMA my 560ti, and they had excellent tech support, and paid for shipping both ways, because the card was less than two weeks old. You can't go wrong with them.

Also when did COD 2 come out? 2005?

None of those games are very demanding.

I'd say get as much power as you can, no sense cheaping out now, getting a taste for performance and or tweaking and having to buy another GPU six months down the road.

Also be aware that if a component fails on this rig, you will most likely be dealing with CyberPower for returns, not the component manufacturer. But I'd agree with EQ, EVGA is solid.

I would personally grab the 3GB version so you can play newer games and not run out of vram--important if you are playing something like Skyrim + mods.

That setup is perfectly fine to run just about anything you will ever play. No, you will not need to upgrade your GPU in 6 months like Quin said. Do you have more money to spend? If you do, then sure, upgrading isn't a bad idea but only you can determine what your limit is on that.

The GTX 660 Ti is a modest step up from the non-Ti GTX 660.

»www.hwcompare.com/13296/ ··· -660-ti/

Is it worth it to you? I would say no, considering the games you are playing are all old, and FPS shooters are far from stressing the GPU (if you had said you want in on BF4 at ultra settings then yes, but COD 2 is an old old game, as I said).

For desktops (laptops are different):

i3: dual core
i5: quad core
i7-3700/3800: quad core w/HT
i7-3900: hexa core w/HT

You know you can google this stuff instead of having it spoonfed.... I really suggest you read up enough to understand the basics before you buy anything, or just give us a budget and needs and let us configure it for you.

Get someone in your family/friends to assemble it for you for a case of beer and you're golden. You can use the money you save to add an SSD and make it even faster. This will run everything you mentioned at maxed-out settings and will keep doing that for the foreseeable future.

I would hope there's an SSD included in that rig for $1,800.00

If not, I would definitely look at getting one. That rig should scream though. There's nothing you couldn't run at max settings, or close to it with that setup.

He's basically got $1,000.00 tied up in CPU, GPU, Motherboard and Ram.

I'd like to know what the other $800.00 goes towards. Because if there's no SSD in there. Then yeah, he's getting hosed for a few hundred dollars.
