How to free up a device for resale

Hi,
I have three Wimax Devices. I am only using two now and would like to sell the unused Modem w/Wifi on eBay or similar venue.
I purchased all three devices direct from Clear over the past year.
Dad passed away last year so I have a surplus modem.
The plan on the item I want to sell is cancelled BUT when I follow the procedure to activate a plan via the device I get a message that the modem needs to be returned to Clear as if it was not an owned device.
Calling Clear was a bit frustrating as they were most willing to activate the device but did not know what I meant about changing the status to an owned device that was eligible for online activation.
Has anyone had this problem and how did you resolve it?
Any insight appreciated.

is there a clear store in your area. The best bet would be to bring it in to the store and see what they say about it. In the past clear had the option to lease the white modem/w wifi. after the black hub came out they stopped leasing modems.

Nothing really close by.
There use to be several but those closed in the past year or so.
Over the past year I purchased (not leased) the following three items direct from the Clear web site:
1) Hub Express (Black) for home
2) Modem w/WiFi (White Refurbished) for dad
3) Clear Spot Voyager (grey) for work
I just want to sell #2 as I no longer have a need for it.
If I just put it up on eBay as it is now the purchaser will not be able to activate it via the web as he/she will just get the message to return the modem (which I own outright).
Contrary to others I have really had no major problems with Clear.

Any suggestion on which branch of the phone tree to take. I took "add new service" but I wonder if billing or tech support might be better?

sorry about delay forum acting up. You want tech and to escalate if need be. This may have something to do with it was a refurb someone must have leased and data base not corrected when it was returned and then sold to you. They need to correct this.

I'll give them a call this evening when I have access to the device.
Thanks,

I had a few minutes and opened up an online chat session.
Explained I wanted the MAC to be removed from my account.
The agent took care of it in a couple minutes.
Quite painless actually.
The activate existing device wizard now works.
Thanks,
J
