(rant) Flash Plugin Update to 11.7.700.169

If adobe's nagware hasn't notified you of the lastest plugin, maybe more annoying is why adobe has to attempt (auto opt-in) installing McAffee Security Scan or Google Toolbar.

Am I the only one that thinks Adobe is yanking our chains:
-extreme vulnerabilities to users with insecure plugins
-If you don't see the little "already checked meaning you opt-in" box, you introduce more issues with whatever it installs.
-not proactively patching acrobat and flash and shockwave

Sorry to rant. Just rather annoying. Make sure not to allow "automatically install updates" because who's to say hackers won't break Adobe's installations systems and now create a plausible vector. Wait, darn. That sounds like FUD...

Coffee please...the good stuff. Not instant...

Hasn't it been that way for years?

Yup. And it has been long recommended, in this forum, to disable/uninstall the auto-updater.

I haven't seen that since unchecking the "Auto Update" option during the install.

No thanks; Java has its own security issues.

You should take the time to write adobe and tell them how happy you are with there product.

Everyone here should do that...

are you telling me it's installing the extra stuff with the background updater?

I never use the auto update option, I manually update it each time.

No it does not do that.

The "junk" comes from »get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ when you go to download from their website.

(And then maybe also during its install? Don't recall if that is the case or not?)

Correct. That is the public download page and those versions come with "extras".

I always download Flash from here

»www.adobe.com/products/f ··· on3.html

No "extras" are included

You left out:

Coffee = Java
Mr. Coffee = Java quickstart
Instant = Javascript

I drink Turkish, so I'm not quite sure what to compare that to.
Possibly JDK?

Download the foistware-free installers from the distribution page.
Search for 'flash distribution3'.

Ok, good. thats normal and it's been that way for god knows how long. I remember the days you got offered real player when you downloaded flash.

I have no idea why they think that is a cool idea, because every person in this forum at one time or another has helped a loved one uninstall that crap off of a computer system that got wrongly installed thanks to adobe.

I am so looking forward to the day we don't need flash.

I wondered who the other American tea drinker was.

The wife mainly drinks tea, but will drink sufficiently strong coffee.

I only drink coffee when tea is unavailable.

Are you implying that I an not "a 'merkin"?

No, but that would mean there are actually three American tea drinkers. Who knew there would be more than two?
