Burning smell from my electric panel

"There is a really bad burning smell coming from my electric panel."

This was after I'd already done one service change today (worn out).

I never did find the other half of Mr. Mouse. WTF?
The main breaker was burnt, and 5 other breakers were burned to a crisp. I'm not sure Mr. Mouse was solely responsible for this. I think he may have just been the straw that broke the camels back.

That kind of "thing" (incident) can happen when the engineer dies.

Perhaps it was the heat from the bus bars that attracted the mouse there in the first place?

In a way, that mouse may have prevented an eventual fire by bringing attention to the failing breaker panel.

You should see what they did to the wires inside the panel. Not sure why the mice get in there. It's a trailer, but it's on a basement. It's in the country and there is a lot of livestock around. Ergo, the mouse problem.
I also think the chicken coop is too close to the house (I hate birds. They are filthy, vile, dirty creatures).

At least it wasn't a snake.

This panel is coming out the morning. It's in a clothes closet right now. It will be in the dumpster before lunch. I'm moving everything to the unfinished basement.

Open knockouts or what?

I've seen a whole nest built in panels. Had to vacumm clean it out. There was enough for a travel pillow. Made with mostly torn up human clothes. Property owner is hoarder/looks homeless but isnt type. It looked like recycled fabric, »www.markrobson.fr/page5/ ··· sse1.jpg .

+1 for the heat generated by the panel to attract the mice.

For some reason I am really amused with this comment.

Actually also curious as to where it went.

In addition it appears to be several code violations. I bet it was installed without pulling the required permits from the AHJ.

The mouse fur is not fire-rated and the teeth are only rated for aluminum conductors, not copper.

Good news! I found the other half of Mr. Mouse today. It was in the bottom of the panel.

It all went away today. New panel in the basement.

Pretty sure there are different rules.

I don't care how lucrative it is, those copper thieves just don't understand the dangers of electricity.
