WD Black 750GB 2.5"

Does it have two or three total platters? I ordered it early today I was just curious, from what I've seen in most reviews I made a good pick over the seagate.

Don't the specs for the model say how many platters?

According to Techradar it has 2 platters.
I couldn't find any reference at WD and had to do a google for the model number

To get to its 750GB capacity the Western Digital Scorpio Black WD7500BPKT uses two 375GB platters (discs). Because of the ASF technology these have an areal density of 520Gb/in.sq, slightly below the 541Gb/in.sq of Toshiba's 750GB MK7559GSXP.

I was thinking two as well.. one site I was reading said 3 but I'm not sure that's really possible?

I'm not a hardware guru, but for performance and reliability for a HDD below 1TB, why would they use 3?
Maybe someone else can answer that?

3-platter 2.5" drives tend to be 12.5mm thick, which rules out usage in most laptops. 9.5mm thick drives are the norm, and for the most part they cap out at two platters.

Not so much now, but back when areal densities were lower, three platters were needed to hit those levels of storage capacity. WD has a 2 TB 2.5" drive that's 15mm thick. It looks like it uses four platters. Some of the first desktop 1 and 2 TB drives had five platters, and later advancements in areal density allowed the same capacity with fewer and fewer platters.
