Re: DSLR Minecraft server Yep, it was me. I have established my hut in the communal area yet, but will eventually if that decision still stands. As of now, I'm building a massive fortress underground. Haven't had any major issues yet, except when I run out of logs and have to go outside to my forest and chop some down...at night.
I'm still pretty new to the game, only having an account to it for 1-2 months, so learning a lot still. Constantly researching recipes and whatnot, but I get the overall point of the game.
My place is easy to find, and very close to the starting area as well. It is well lit, and well below ground and away from any monsters that might come knocking. If anyone needs a hideout, or a place to come at start to get out of the night, feel free to come have a stay at my place.
The communal area is easily spotted from starting area. If you do a 180 from that (while still standing at starting spawn), I'm on the other side of that hill directly infront of you, next to the water. Impossible to miss my place, since there's like 10-12 trees right outside the door, and a clean cobblestone lined path to the front door. The first room has my double chest in it, with 100s of cobblestone should anyone need any. All I ask is that you replace it at some point in the near future. I'll need most/all of it, just cause of the pure size my fortress will eventually be.
Thanks for the invite to server neon. |

Noiche join:2013-06-17 Panama City, FL | Thanks you, and I can actually access this at work. Pretty nice. I'll start some interesting changes to my underground fortress now.
Also, I have cobblestone flowing out every pour in my body, so if any newcomers the the server would like a shelter built for your first few day/nights, let me know and I'll come to you.
Nice establishment you have so far iron, with the bridge and all. While checking it out yesterday, I lagged and had a creeper come in and punish me for the lag. It blew the front door off, which I repaired. Hopefully I replaced everything correctly in the right place.
If anyone would be interested in an underground city, I could expand my area underground and build additional buildings. I have the entire area well lit, so no monsters ever get in or come down there. I'm going to build a marker on the hill outside so that everyone can easily find my place, just incase you need it. |

justin..needs sleepAustralian join:1999-05-28 New York, NY kudos:15 | the bridge was mine, obviously it isn't done as ugly as it is.
I was tired of walking through the valley and getting killed. |
|
Noiche join:2013-06-17 Panama City, FL | Yep, happened to me a ton while trying to fill that creeper hole and repair the damage. I built a 2nd entrance to my place cause of this very reason. From the starting location, if you see a small section of cobblestone, and dig the dirt out in the center of it, you'll find my 2nd entrance. If you go in, just replace the dirt so monsters don't get in. It's well lit underground.
So I dug out from my place and managed to find a large chasm with about 3 layers. I believe I got everything out of there, which took several hours of mining/killing. Feel free to go check though. It's behind some dirt walls behind my house underground. Torches mark everything I've been around, so look for any places I might have missed. There's flowing water and lava down there for the taking. I've started digging another direction, but haven't run into anything yet and have went quite a ways, nor have I heard any monster sounds.
If anyone would like to connect areas with some tunnels, let me know. I can even dig a tunnel to the communal area if yall want, so we are at least linked, and there's a way out of you get over run |

Noiche join:2013-06-17 Panama City, FL 1 edit | I managed to find a few blocks of redstone, and a single block of "lapis" something.
Edit: Nvm, found the recipes for it. |

New World Map Logged on to the new world for the first time last night. Thanks for setting up the safe zone near spawn with supplies!.
I headed off to the North for about 500 blocks and have started to carve out a spot in the mountains. |

I like your underground base. Instead of dirt, you can use 6 wood blocks in a rectangle to make a trap door that would cover that 2nd entrance. If you have enough coal, I would make a half dozen furnaces and turn the cobblestone to regular stone. |

You won't find my place unless I give you the coords.
It's about 700 blocks from the spawn and underground with a hidden entrance.
I decided to do the "sneaky underground" thing this time instead of my mega-metropolis that I had on the last map. Though it was nice having 60+ villagers literally outside my front door. -- I'll be stretching out the rhyme like gravity stretches time. |

I have hollowed out a small mountain about 271 m almost due east of the community area. I think I also have connected to Noiche's cavern with a tunnel. I placed signs. |
|
Noiche join:2013-06-17 Panama City, FL | Eventually it will all get connected. Now that I've built a huge excuse for a house in the communal area, I'm going to make a tunnel connecting it and my main house.
I went even deeper in my chasm earlier. I managed to keep gong down and down, and went down 2 waterfalls, and found an even larger area down bottom where lava is everywhere. I died a few times, in lava and water, so lost everything I had and had gathered, which included 2 diamond pickaxes and 6 more diamonds, among many other treasures.
I'd love to get a group together to go clear this chasm out. It's absolutely massive, and continues to grow with each turn cause I manage to find many more rooms. There's loads upon loads of resources down there, from coal to diamonds and obsidian. If yall want to get together and have a poke around, feel free, or we can when I'm online. Careful though, it has so many turns and junctions. I've lost my way multiple times now, but everywhere I've been (haven't cleared anything) is marked with loads of torches.
Also, I have quite a few seeds and such. I'll probably start a small farm in the communal area for all to partake from, just replant a seed when you grab something. I don't really care if you plant the same thing again, just replace with something to grow. |

fnord76 join:2002-05-14 Troy, IL kudos:1 | I'm going to try to level out the entire hill we have there and expand the communal areaso we can build the various resuorces we need like a forge w an anvil, a warehouse to store whatever we need, a farming area with all the plants and anamials. Of course it will encompass the starting area which I am trying to section off to make it a "Zoo" for the baddies to spawn in. I followed my chasm to it's end and there isn't much in it now. I went into the various caves bolt had and pulled some of the obsidion out. There is enough to create a couple of nether gates if you guys want. I got lost once I came out of bolt's base though. |

Resource packs are fine....they only change the graphics / sounds client side.
It's a 100% vanilla server otherwise, so any mods that affect gameplay would be kinda like cheating. -- I'll be stretching out the rhyme like gravity stretches time. |

Noiche join:2013-06-17 Panama City, FL | That's what I guessed and the way I planned to go. THanks
fnord, I'll help out on expanding the area if you show me a rough estimate of the ground you'd like to cover. I can come in and work on flattening everything out if you can get a rough wall built to show what you're looking at. I was also thinking about building a large house/mansion with multiple rooms (big enough for the rooms to basically be minituare houses) for each person to store items or live in, or whatever they want. It could even just be that the walls are done and each person could design their own room/home inside the structure. |

The secret to not getting lost in caverns is torch placement. I always place torches on my right when exploring. To get out, all I have to do is keep the torches on my left, and it always leads back to the entrance. -- ON DELETE CASCADE |
|
Noiche join:2013-06-17 Panama City, FL | I get a kick of ADD on torch placement and always want 2 torches, one on each side, directly across from each other and same height. Makes for a hell of a time finding my way out, or back to a death spot. |

I have a place east of the spawn point. I currently have pumpkins and wheat growing, so if you want something take it if it's ready. There's also a chest out side with extra stuff in it, so feel free to what's there.
I have almost terraformed the outside, so you should she a huge stone facing. I am still working on the inside. |

I place my torches to the right.... so if I am going out, they will now be on the left... If I popped through a wall, I will put a cluster of torches in the area so I know where I am at.
While leveling my plot, I stumbled upon a ravine. I might go exploring it later...
Anyone been to the Nether yet? I wanna start building a nether hub linking everyone together. |

fnord76 join:2002-05-14 Troy, IL kudos:1 | I still haven't attempted to make a portal at all. I have about 30 obsidian in the tower chest. I'll have to look up how to do it. I took a big chunk out of the hill. I'd say we have about 1/2 to 3/4 of it leveled now. I'll put up the rest of the perimeter fence tomorrow. I'm running out of iron so I'll have to go back into the mines. Noiche, did you tie into the mine that was close to my house? If you did, I may demolish that mine and re-route through your underground place since I am getting close to annexing it. |

neonhomerKK4BFNPremium join:2004-01-27 Edgewater, FL | Nether portals are easy....
They are four wide by five tall. You can leave the corners out if you wish
said by MinecraftWiki : A Nether Portal is a manufactured structure which acts as a gateway between the Overworld and Nether dimensions. It is built as a frame of Obsidian, four blocks wide, by five blocks tall, after which the inside of the frame is ignited to activate it. The corners of the frame are not required, but portals created by the game will always include them. This means if you want, you can make the corners made of gold blocks, Block of Diamond, or even dirt, but of course you can use obsidian if you prefer.

Nether Portals have a weird spawn mechanic....read up on them to understand how they work.
I already have a portal up and found a Nether Fortress as well, so when you get one up over there I'll give you the coords for the fortress. -- I'll be stretching out the rhyme like gravity stretches time. |

fnord76 join:2002-05-14 Troy, IL kudos:1 | If you have a portal already, is making one in DSLRVille alright for the Nether Hub? you said you are 700 blocks away which should make the Portal in the Nether about 85 blocks away which should make the portal link to yours in the Nether. |
|
ironweaselWeezyPremium join:2000-09-13 Belen, NM kudos:1 | It might possibly link up with mine meaning that you can go in either one and end up coming out of a single portal in the Nether. However, I'm not sure which one you'd come out of.... -- I'll be stretching out the rhyme like gravity stretches time. |
|
fnord76 join:2002-05-14 Troy, IL kudos:1 | It would come out at your overworld portal in theory since there should be a direct correlation to your 2 portals and mine would be further out. So most likely, you could enter DSLRVille and only come out at yours one way. |
