[modem/router] Need to switch wifi frequency band channels perio

Any idea why I must switch channels every couple weeks to get the wifi working again? The router is several years old. Could this be a problem?

It would help if you explained the failure mode, what type of encryption you are using, whether it affects all your Wi-Fi devices or only one.

Could it be as simply as congestion from other Wi-Fi devices? In that case changing devices will not help.

My want to install inSSIDer to see how channels are being used.

I called Verizon and they over-nighted a new D-Link ... so far so good. Thanks for the replies.
