Only other game I ever played from Paradox was Mount & Blade, which I played for about 140 hours.

This definitely looks like fun, and the trailer is stellar.

Interesting trailer [the sound track, voice over], but I have little interest in the actual game.

*edit*

Though seeing how it's 10 bucks, it might be worth the risk.

I bought this game and Prime World:Defenders yesterday. Haven't played this yet but the trailer was good.

edit: Played last night. The game has both online and offline modes. I started an offline campaign to try to get a feel for the game before heading online.

There are two phases. "Planning" and "results". I'm not sure if those are the correct names for the phases, but whatev.

In the planning phase you plot your course, arrange your defenses (move shields, for example), and target your enemies. You click "Commit" and it's on to the results phase. In the results phase you and your enemies move and fire. Weapon systems seem to have a minimum and maximum range. In the last scenario I started, one of my ships lost steering and ended up too close to its target to fire. I saw a little wrench icon appear next to the out-of-control ship but I'm not sure how long repairs would have taken. Another of my ships was sunk because I accidentally moved my shield to the wrong side. I lost that mission soon thereafter and called it a night.
