[ALL] Upload Speeds on Basic Internet PackagesI'm referring specifically to HS10 and HS20 here ... these packages still have just 512 Kbps upload speeds.
Not a real complaint, just curious what it will take for Shaw to get with the times?
I currently have HS20 and I chose that because of the 6 month introductory pricing when I signed up -- currently only paying $29.95 plus taxes. However, that promo pricing will very soon end for me. For the difference in full pricing $60 for HS25 vs $55 for HS20 I'll probably upgrade when the promo runs out so that I can get the "upto 2.5 Mbps" upload speeds.
But really? How hard would it be (and how much would it cost) for Shaw to provide 1.0 Mbps for HS10 and 2.0 Mbps upload for HS20?
I keep reading about other ISPs (both American and Canadian) here at DSL Reports and many (if not most) seem to now offer at least 2.0 Mbps upload even with their basic packages.
Heck, here in Winnipeg, even MTS offers 768 Kbps with their basic package (which is only 7.0 Mbps down).
It's not a deal-breaker for me, but I do e-mail a lot of larger PDF files to my clients, I do a lot of sales on Kijiji and eBay - uploading lots of photos. And I do a bit of torrenting as well. I don't think asking for 2 Mbps upload is a lot to ask - but I'm sure I would notice (and appreciate) a quadrupling of my current upload speeds.

BB15 has 1 mbps, which is $56.95 as well
Low upload speeds are my biggest complaint with the Shaw service. |

BB15 ??? I've never even seen that listed when I look at Shaw's site. Regardless, I like my 20 down and wouldn't want to give it up. This is what I really wanted (the High Speed 50 would suit me to a T) ... » voinetworksolutions.com/ ··· l-pricesbut my $#%^&@* Condo Board of Directors didn't want to approve it when I approached them about it (even though VOI pays all installation costs for the building). |

Do you mean Xtreme-I, which got upgraded to 25mb/s? (it's the package I was on before upgrading to BB50) It looks like it's been renamed to "High Speed 25" which offers 2.5 mb/s up: » www.shaw.ca/internet/hig ··· peed-25/ |

It would be very easy and it would cost them effectively nothing. Don't expect it anytime soon though. Why give you something for free when they can hold out and make you pay for it? |

I would like to see as a minimum standard, the upload set at 10% of the download
15-20% minimum for business accounts
I doubt it will happen, but it would be nice.
Upload traffic costs more than download does. |

I've been a Shaw cable internet and cable TV customer since I can't remember when (must be at least 15 years for cable internet and longer for TV), and my opinion of them (while still generally supportive) has really gone downhill in the last 2-3 years. So they can HONESTLY say they have the best speeds -- 768 Kbps upload from MTS is not far better ... but IT IS BETTER. |

Yes, because MTS has nothing that comes close to BB250 with 15 up, or 100/10 or 100/5 depending on where you live, majority of people only care about the download speed... |

While I completely agree with you, Shaw isn't in the business of maintaining your respect, they are in the business of taking your money. As long as you don't get mad enough to cancel, they aren't really concerned with what you think about them. Don't expect that to change anytime soon as long as we don't have any real competition in this sector. |
