Nope, I didn't. But it doesn't change the fact that it's to attract the young vote only.
Just out of curiousity, how "young" do you think you need to be to want fast fiber to the home speeds? I am in my 40s and want it. My Dad is in his 70s, and also does. I think you're employing an age stereotype here without justification. And as a matter of Australian politics, the "young" vote has always tended towards the labour party, perhaps stereotypically following the old maxim "He who is not a socialist at age 20 has no heart. He who is not a conservative by age 40 has no brain."
But I think we'd need to know more about NBN and the associated costs in Australia to know if this is a strong election issue or not.
If a political Party in Canada were to propose a national Fiber to the home initiative, I'd be curious to hear the details proposed. As it is the incumbents have too much of a stranglehold on policy though, regardless of who is in power. So I don't see them too happy with giving up their monopolies without a fight.
