Optimum app Android redux

Well, I did have the Opt app for Android working on both my Google Nexus phone and my Vtab tablet, but the brainwashed that wrote the app will now not allow me to install the update, nor will it allow me to run the app as is. So stop running ads telling me I can watch on my Android, or else take the block off!
And no, I'm not getting an ios device, not at all.

Works fine on my droid. Must be something with your unit.

Which one? The real problem seems to be the very short list of devices that are being allowed.

Some Nexus units are on the list. Is yours? If yours is, maybe a complete reinstall is in order. My Optimum App for Android is working fine (edit: compatible device)

Only the DVR app. Which doesn't help since we don't DVR. I wanted the app to watch programs. When I sign in I get a pop stating I need to get DVR, then it closes. Not useful at all.

It would also be nice if the Optimum App for Android would also work on the Nook HD.

Ditto "Encore Play" and "Starz Play". Looks like right now only AT&T, Cox, DirecTV, and FIOS give their customers who have Encore & Starz subscriptions access to the freaking FREE service!

Well, that starts a different topic entirely!

Naw, I was just adding to the complaint about the Optimum app and decided to throw in an extra b*tch since I had just downloaded Encore Play from the Google app store and found out that CV doesn't support it.

Checked again tonight. Still nothing for my devices. Now they have it for Galaxy Nexus, but only for Verizon and Sprint versions, not ATT version. Nothing for my Honeycomb tablet either, even though Kindle Fire is Honeycomb. Oh, they now have it for my old ICS tablet - yeah, that tablet was stolen a year ago, so fat lot of good that does.

I'm still not getting any iOS devices - EVER!

So I sent an inquiry to the email address listed on the page for feedback, etc, (OptimumApp@cablevision.com)and got this:

This email box is no longer active. Our Technical Support Department will be happy to review your concerns with you. To initiate a Live Chat with one of our Technical Support specialists (available 24/7), please visit: »opti.mu/gpfK3 orTwitter.com/OptimumHelp

Ya think maybe they should update the page if they care about image, even a little bit? Na, just keep beating us over the head with commercials to make you think the app is very available.

About »Re: Optimum app Android redux
Tried to reply but looks like the moderators are playing tricks. Says I can't reply to older post due to my account status. I've been a member since 2002! Anyway Play now has encore and start encore for cv. Installed on my Honeycomb just fine.

And I still can't install opt app on my Honeycomb. Current opt version is 3.0.4

Come on!

The Optimum app is very dumb for the Android. I never had issues with my iOS one other than it telling me I was on a jailbreak phone and its not supported. I just d/led a tweak and fixed that issue. As for my Android tablet. It was a Kindle Fire HD and it had the Optimum app for the device, but once I rooted and flashed a custom ROM in there, Optimum app no longer recognized it as a supported device. I just edited the build.prop (the custom ROM renamed it to something else) back to Kindle Fire HD. Did you flash your phone with a custom ROM? Some custom ROMs work with the Optimum app like normal, some ROMs conflict with the app. Been through a few when I was using my S3.

No, my tablet is not rooted, nor does it have a custom ROM. It's a Vizio tablet. I tried rooting a couple of times, but Vizio locked it up pretty good, so it couldn't be done.

Your device still isn't on the supported list, right? It doesn't matter what version you're running if it's not a supported device.

Except that my phone isn't on the list either and it works fine on that

I just downloaded the Optimum app fro Android on my Samsung Galaxy S2 (which is a compatible device according to their website) running on Jellybean, and I can't even login for some reason.

After putting in my Optimum ID & Password, then clicking "Login", I keep getting an error message saying: "An Optimum-provided modem is required for this feature. Please call (866) 360-2758 for more information. (Error A101)".

I have Optimum TV withe DVR & DVR Plus, but no Optimum Internet. But according to them, it should still work. Anyone else experienced this problem? How did you get around it?

Also, I downloaded the app to an iPad to see if it would work from there, and funny thing is, when tried to login using that device, it worked fine.

It's always been required to have Optimum Internet with a wireless router....atleast officially.

Requirements: Home viewing requires Optimum TV with digital cable box or CableCard, Optimum authorized modem and wireless router. Optimum App requires App download and minimum system requirements. Available to residential customers only. Not all Optimum App features are available on all devices.

Othewise people would have to relegate themselves with the Optimum DVR Manager app.

Slightly incorrect. It always required a "Cable Modem" and a wireless router. The initial press release stated they would supply non-internet users with a blocked Modem. I did not spend the time looking for the original release but this site reviewed the optimum app and included the info.

»bgr.com/2011/04/02/optimum-ipad-···ands-on/

If you are an Optimum customer that doesn’t have a cable modem, Optimum will provide an internet-blocked cable modem for free that will enable you to use the iPad app with a user-provider secure wireless router.

I doubt customer service gets a lot of calls on this so the poster may need to keep asking if they do not find someone with the right info.

Sorry, I did a little more searching and it appears that even though it was the stated intention to offer walled Modems, initially they did not. So I'm not sure whether they ever offered them and whether the poster will be able to use the app without OOL.

I have seen some accounts with the modems. I'm pretty sure it requires a tech visit and a manual provisioning.
