Thanks NetCool,
What a person needs to supply to NetCool, or NetDogg... (I was trying to tell my Son how to do it over the phone.)
Open Google Chrome, Type in 192.168.0.1 into the search bar to get to the Residental Gateway. (Modem menu.) Default password is... USER-Admin Password-Motorola Click On the Status Tab, Then, the Software Tab locate the Comcast Modem Mac address (aka.CM Mac)
Also, You can Provide them with the Phone Number on the account. |

Hi Netdog! I messaged you my MAC Address. I really hope you can help me. I am getting the same Access Denied problem with comcast! |

said by miket:Last night I was messing around with the settings on my modem and had to do a hard reset. Before the reset the SNR, db levels were perfect on all of the channels. When it came back online it couldn't connect to the comcast network. The connectivity state says "Access Denied". The modem has acquired 1 downstream and one upstream channel successfully. I get this error a lot on the log:
No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out
And
DHCP failed - DHCP Request sent, No DHCP REPLY received;
My modem is showing this software version: SBG6580-6.5.0.0-GA-00-226-NOSH. This looks (roughly) like the one before I did the hard reset.
I plugged my old DOCSIS 2.0 modem in, and that thing works perfectly (but it is only a temp. solution, my package is the extreme 105)
I've been on the phone with tech support. They did a bunch of remote reboots. Didn't work. I asked if they re-pushed the most recent firmware, but it was hard to understand the response (the tech had a very heavy accent...but said something like "of course" when I asked again).
They tried to send me to their paid department without telling me (which was frustrating).
Any tech wizards out there who can help? I'm having this very same results. I work from home and I have been thru 3 days of hell with Comcast phone support with no results and no one able to come out until Friday. If someone could assist that would be awesome. |

Same problem here. I even went out and bought another 6580 which initially worked then I did a hard reset just to confirm the problem wasn't on my end. I will now call Comcast and get my old one hooked up again. Then I'll send some PM's. Thank God for this forum. This has been going on since Wed. What a mission!
Regards. |

No, strangely this has been going on since May 2013. 1-800 Comcast is STILL unaware of the problem, still telling callers to reset their SBG6580s. Whatever magic NetDog and NetCool are doing (and kudos to them for their help here) should have been AUTOMATED by now! |
