Thanks!!!!

But, how come KB2847140 for IE 8 is not listed on this update?
Did they change the KB Number?

Applied 11 patches to my Win7 Home Premium 32 bit desktop system. Reboot was needed. No problems so far.

And also applied 15 patches to my Win8 Pro 32 bit laptop system. Reboot was needed. No problems so far.

Many of the "select the updates you want to install" - "more information" - links are breaking to OOPS
I am non-plussed with MS this month (•)

Will not be running MRT on any PC that enquires my services as it's is basically a monthly phone home service to MS.
Any self respecting AV doesn't need MS MRT.

Thus, I am not reporting what I have installed for those from MS looking in.

Manual Update

Windows Update
KB2804579 failed to install for me using Microsoft Update on Win7 64 Pro SP1. Googling that KB turns up nothing, but it's a patch for .NET Framework 3.5.1 that is part of Microsoft Security Bulletin MS13-040 - Important : Vulnerabilities in .NET Framework Could Allow Spoofing (2836440)
»technet.microsoft.com/en-us/secu···ms13-040

It also failed when I downloaded the .msu and installed manually.

I'd try rebooting and see if that fixes it. It has for me in the past.

Thanks Nick, 11 for my Win7 Pro and 10 for my Win7 Premium.

After updating my Win7 Pro and rebooting my system would not fully boot up. It booted to my desktop but none of my security or other programs would work kept getting a message saying Windows couldn't find such and such program and it my have been removed or deleted. So i had to do a system recovery with my ATI backup.

Immediately after posting the above, I did that, logging in to a "cleaner" admin-rights profile. Installing using the .msu was apparently successful, but Windows Update is still telling me I need 2804579 and still failing to install. Going off to reboot once more.

And this is just the first of many systems I'm responsible for. :-(

Time to start patching systems. I'll be here well into the evening Overtime: it's a love/hate relationship, just like Windows 8

After another reboot, Windows Update still shows 1 update -- 2804579 -- needed, even though it was installed successfully already. @@#%$@#%!#$!#$ WU.

Anyone remember how to reset !#$%!%@! WU?

I was watching the updates, and I think I was seeing 32 bit and 64 bit updates. My guess is, you are showing that the 32 bit installation succeeded whereas, the 64 bit install failed.

I'm a little too new to Win 7 to tell you what to do. If it was my system, I'd probably go to add remove programs, remove it and see if it would install again. But, as I said, I'm very new to Win 7, been on XP for more than a decade.

Good idea, but that's not it, the 32-bit MSU won't install on this system.

Well, fortunately, on this system, everything installed, no problem. Good luck with the trouble shooting. Since you have at least 1 successful install message, I'd still go look in add/remove programs to see if there is an uninstall option, so that you could start over with that particular item.

What the ???

This is the page I get for the Cumulative Critical IE 10 patch. I get this mostly BLANK PAGE on ALL browsers on Windows 8. At first, I thought it just didn't fully load so I refreshed the page. I also bypassed the Proxomitron....but nothing will get that page to load. OTHER patches the download page loads just fine.

I had thought other patches download pages were loading ok but I accidently cliicked on Windows 8 32bit patch and its download page loaded fine and I even downloaded the patch to disk with no problem and then I realized I had clicked on 32 bit patch instead of the one for 64 bit Windows 8 systems so I clicked on the correct one and I got a mostly blank page!

I cannot get a download page for ANY patch!!

I got also an optional root certificate update for May 2013 on XP:
»support.microsoft.com/kb/931125/

PS:
I would like to have the English/US MS link for that without redirecting me to the Dutch MS site. If someone could give it here: thanks in advance.

I had the same problem on my first two attempts--that one failed installation. So I did the MSE latest update. Then tried a third time on the failed update and it installed correctly. Whether it was a coincidence with the MSE or just that the server is so overloaded and the extra time allowed me to access the server on the third try with it under slightly less demand and hence success I do not know. But all updates downloaded and installed.

That's funny.... »www.microsoft.com/en-us/download···id=38901 works fine on Safari on my Mac:

...but I get the same display as you on Fx 21, Fx Nightly, and Chrome. It looks like an odd CSS coding is hanging up certain browsers. I can disable a specfic line: "float : left" and most of the rest of the page displays, albeit oddly formatted.

Here's my download speed for the update, 112 KB/sec is not good for a 20/2 connection, if fact a bit worse than yours:

LOL - Akamai is not overloaded where you are. Good lord are those Microsoft servers (on Akamai I think) overloaded currently and earlier so bad that I could not even get the download center page to load! Now I can get the page to load and get a download box but the download speed is not much better than dialup. See my screenshot in Microsoft forum:

»Re: [WIN8] Windows 8.1 will be a Free Upgrade

I am rarely home on Tuesdays until the evening so it may always be like this here until late Tuesday evening when I usually do the downloads.
