2013 Comcast Modem Poll

Please choose what modem you lease or own.
If you have two modems: 1 for HSI & 1 for CDV, choose the one you use for HSI.

This list is taken from Comcast's list of Approved Modems
[EOL] End Of Life Modems are not included.
If you don't see your modem, choose "Other".
Any corrections needed I will do my best to fix them.

**This Poll is intended to give members information about what modems Comcast customers are using.
It's not intended to debate which is best.

Since I have a modem for internet and another for CDV, I chose the internet modem. I hope I didn't fail the test.

If I could vote twice I'd also vote DPC3008, because that's what our second account has. Our home acct is a Ubee U10CO35, have contemplated having it swapped or buy my own but it's holding up just fine so far (except for not wanting to negotiate a gigabit ethernet link after rebooting every so often)

Comcast is so messed up, why do they issue so many different modems? I have a Cisco DPC3000, which has worked well for me so far although I want to upgrade to an 8X8 oh higher modem soon. Nice poll Johkal!

Motorola SB6121 here, on business class.

A coworker just replaced a faulty Zoom 5341J with a Motorola SB6141. If he ends up RMA'ing the Zoom, I'm going to try it to see what happens on business .

Before I placed my vote I double checked my modem and it shows 2 model numbers.

I have a Ubee modem and it is either a DDM3513 or U10C035.
I might be wrong but they are the same.

I'm actually surprised the SB5120 is leading the pack this year so far. The SB6120 blew it away last year leaps & bounds. Quite interesting.

The modems on the approved list are not necessarily "issued" by Comcast; they are simply approved for use. The modem I use was not "issued" by Comcast, and I doubt that anyone has had that particular modem model "issued" to them by Comcast. Unlike some ISPs, Comcast allows its customers to provide and use the modem of their choice (from the approved list). What is "messed up" about having choices?

I have the ZyXEL BRG-35503. It was free after a rebate promotion that Comcast was running back in December 2012. I have had no problems with the modem. I got my rebate (Prepaid Visa Card) last month. I am happy with my service.

As of mid afternoon today (Central time), the SB6120 is once again in the lead by at least half a furlong; but its SB5120 and SB6121 siblings are close on its tail.

What surprises me is that the Zoom 5341x is not out in front, considering the popular praise it seems to get in this forum.

What surprises me is that the Zoom 5341x is not out in front, considering the popular praise it seems to get in this forum.

.....because the Zoom is a relatively "newcomer" to D3 party! I purchased a 6120 when D3 was FIRST being widely deployed and it has been a champ(always delivered my provisioned speeds). Except for the prior firmware miscues..with the last one(Oct/12) fixing just about everything...why upgrade to 8X4, 8X8.. or whatever??? 4X3(up/down) "bonding" works just fine.

I would "think" that people should be MORE concerned about the performance dispersion from their ROUTER!... imo.. the "true" bottleneck for most performance issues.. speed or otherwise.

Again surprised that the Zoom 5341J isn't leading the 5341.
