New ZyWALL 110, 310 and 1100 Models

AndreSt reported last month what appears to be three new additions to the ZyWALL series:
»Re: 2013 USG SHOULD ADD FUNCTIONALITY

According to the datasheet, the 110, 310 and 1100 models have substantially greater throughput:

»ftp://ftp.zyxel.com/ZyWALL_110/datashe···10_1.pdf

Does anybody have any specifics about pricing and availability yet?

I'm thrilled about this. Never had a need for the "extra sucking $$$ services" cause I've been very happy with another content filter system that doesn't run on the firewall.

When can I get it?

I sure hope Zyxel doesn't jack up the price since they won't have after sales opportunities with UTM gone.

Can we get no UTM firmware for the existing USG's? Will probably speed them up if that code is removed.... Wishful thinking..

9 to 12 months from now there will be new UTMs with some power. These are the new VPN routers.

UTMs are in vogue, not passe. Lets just hope Zyxel learned they need to price UTM sigs cheaply and get quantity sales and not OVERPRICE t the UTM sigs and hardware. Offer at least 2 year and 3 year high discounts for the sigs.

According to the Declaration of Conformity of the ZyWALL 110 the new model including UTM might be called USG110 or USG210. Probably the'll be based on the same hardware platform.

The USG models don't require you to buy the licenses. They run fine without the extra services. My USG50 isn't even registered at ZyXEL.

You are only required to register if you purchase UTM features. Seems from the forums most users do not bother. Unfortunately my experience with UTM is that its limited in its ability to provide "real world" protection.

The ZyWALL 1100, which is supposed to replace the ZyWALL 1000, was exhibited this month at ICTVakdag 2013. The 1100 is expected to be available in September:
