[Praise] Free 3-month Extreme 105 UpgradeDid anyone else get a free 3-month upgrade to Extreme 105? I just received an email saying that I was getting it for being a loyal customer, and sure enough once I rebooted my modem my speeds have more than doubled. Thanks Comcast! |

How does the free upgrade expire? Does it end automatically after three months or do you have to cancel it yourself to prevent being billed for it? |
|
|
The email explicitly stated that after 3 months I would automatically be moved back to my previous speeds and would not have to take any action. |

Keep an eye on your bill anyway And perhaps not rebooting your modem will postpone the downgrade. |

Good ideas! |

It's a trial of three hundred thousand customers. The biller code is built like the guarantee premium channels(3 month free premium for customer guarantee issues) are, they disappear from the account at expiration. |

No, no free upgrades here. |

The 300,000 have been emailed, if you didn't get the email you're not one of them. |

Can anyone explain why Comcast is doing this and why only 300,000 customers can get it? This is the first time I'm hearing this. |

My guess, testing network conditions with higher tiered plans. No better real world test than giving a bunch of customers a boost. Should be a good sign of things to come. |

I fully expect the Extreme package 105/20 to become the new Blast in the next 2 years at most! |

This is actually kind of interesting. I wonder if this test will finally allow them to get rid of the $250 setup fee for the 105 plan. At the least if the testers wanted to upgrade to 105 it would seem like they should be able to get the fee waived.
Also, I'm guessing that you are on Blast Jeremy. I wonder if they also picked some users there were on performance or if it was only customers who were already at 50mbps. |

Got it here in KC. Friend was on 50/10 and got the free upgrade. He has yet to hit the max download speed but gets 20 up no issue. |

How do they roll the speed back? Do they send the old configuration and force the modem to reboot? Why do you have to manually reboot the modem to get the speeds? I'm guessing they can't change your speed without you manually rebooting it... Get a UPS (uninterrupted power supply), run the modem off of that and never power it down again; keep 105 until they forcefully disconnect you or come out with something better. |

I received the email a week ago in Indianapolis. Never saw a speed increase after rebooting my modem and going through all the steps (still on 50 Mbps). Did tech support chat with Comcast last night and was told there is nothing on my account about a free speed increase. I asked why I received the email about 3 months free and was told it was a phishing email and to report it to Comcast immediately.... |
