Re: Is this poison ivy?

Acer Negunda, AKA Ash-leaf-Maple, AKA Box Elder.

Leaves are opposite, no other possibility.

However, keep an eye open for poison Ivy sneaking in - they both grow in the same habitat.

Time for me to learn something, the leaves opposite means it's different on ivy? I was born in the city

Look for an Oak tree. Their leaves are called alternate because the bases of two leaves on the opposite side of a branch are not opposite each other - they are offset.

The box elder, and all other maples have leaves that are directly opposite on the stem.
