Brief outage in Nepean, ON
Monday May 20 between 10:35 and 10:40 AM I lost Internet connection. My DCM476 modem's log only show events for May 19 as the latest. Internet connection is back now, but unexpected daytime outage bothers me.
Any info for the cause/reason of these two?
Thanks for your help.
No issues on this end, if your modem only shows a 19th reset then perhaps it wasn't the modem, ie router.

I didn't see any issues on my end, I'm in Craig Henry.
|reply to rocca | Hi rocca,
On May 20 around noon I power cycled the modem so that connection speed resumes to normal. After that I logged on to the modem I did not see any events recorded for May 19-20. Since then I have not touched either the modem or the router. I bought the NEW Netgear WNDR3400V2 router for my parents on April 13. I am reviewing the router logs to determine if it actually loses power or reboots itself periodically. The router and modem are plugged into an UPS.
Attached is a screenshot of the modem I took this afternoon. I am still wondering why the modem does not record events DAILY. Is there any way to extract modem log for continuous records between, say April 1 and May 21? The most recent events recorded are for Wed. May 15 @ 16:52 HRS and Monday May 20 @ 23:35 HRS. No events were recorded for Monday May 20 between 10:30 and 19:40 AM when the slow down occurred.
I would appreciate if you could take a quick glance at the attached modem screenshot and give me your comments.
Thank you kindly, rocca!
The renew may have failed if you had switched the device behind the modem a couple times and used up your number of maximum macs that the cmts will hand out, ie generally it's set to two with the initial one being timed out if you're actively using a second, but if you have a third device trying to get an IP then it won't work until the modem is factory reset to cause the cmts to reset the ip binding to the cm.
Thank you for your comments. To date I only use 2 router devices to connect to the modem: the old Netgear WNR-834B v2 and the new Netgear WNDR-3400 v2. During the course of troubleshooting connection I probably have done power cycling and factory reset of the modem (and router) more than twice.
I will do another factory reset of the modem tonight to see if the modem logging improves.
