| garmin map update hello
just updated my garmin 255w with the 2013 north america full map. when this completed, and the software update was performed, i found that the device (all favorites, settings) were reset to factory defaults.
i contacted garmin and they recommended that i restore from a backup, which i did. now the map is just the lower 49 states instead of the full north america.
re-downloaded the map, but when i go to the map info screen, it says:
CN North America NT 2013.40 [1] Lower 49 States
seems like i cannot have both my favorites and the full north america, which shouldn't be the case.
any ideas what i can do to fix the situation? -- a day without sunshine is like, you know, night. |

1 recommendation | I had a problem with my Nuvi1490 LMT not being able to load all the maps. I added a 4 GB Micro SD card in the provided slot and used the latest updater. It loaded the North America maps on the SD card and I have plenty of resident storage left. -- Buckle Up. It makes it harder for the aliens to suck you out of your car.

thanks for the infomation. found an unlocked version for download off of a torrent website Has everything in North America.. even the islands.
Looks like I need to get a bigger SD card. Been using a 2 GB card for so long this update is now bigger than 2 GB. 4 GB cards are cheap enough I'll do the update later on. |

 | garmin tech informed me that any card up to 8gb will do. 8gb is the max for a garmin 255w, but yeah, 2gb might be a tight fit.
