[TWC] 100/5 coming soon

Hey Guys
I just wanted to let you know when I was on twc last night I seen 100/5 coming soon to my area (Mercer County Ohio) and I just spoke with carrier class rep and he told me that NYC and TX already got this upgrade.

So look for this upgrade soon if your area got wideband.

As far as I know Texas still only has a maximum of 75/5.

And really, still only 5Mbps upload? Pathetic.

Re: [TWC] 100/5 coming soon....Meh

I'm on 50/5 right now and last I checked the price for 100/5 was cost prohibitive.

Anyway, I can't see moving from what I have now as I eagerly await for my 1 Gig pipe from Google.

Maybe, TWC will get desperate and upgrade me to their max speed, but I highly doubt it.

50/5 here to.I doubt northeast ohio will be seeing any higher speeds anytime for the next two years.there is no competition in NEO so the monopoly that is TWC will leave the top speeds at 50/5 until fios/google move into ohio, you can take that to the bank!!!

Yeah I have to agree 100mb down with only 5mb is kinda silly. They need to at least double that to 10mb up. But I think 100/25 would be more realistic.

well my rep said he doesnt know when ohio is going to be getting 100/5 but he said it is coming soon.

because for 50/5 residential here in ohio is only 79.99 so I would say the 100/5 package would be around 100-120 dollars.

it likely won't rollout until 8 channel downstream bonding is turned on in Ohio as most areas of Ohio if not all legacy TWC non former insight systems have only 4 downstreams max for internet and TWC is going to have to move some areas DOCSIS channels off of 105MHz thru 123MHz to be able to do 8 channel bonding in Ohio.

Texas is in the Process of rolling 8 channel bonding out statewide with North Texas as the starting point which should be about half way or close to finishing.

well it will likely be later this year as TWC has to add 4 more DOCSIS channels to be able to handle a 100Mbps tier on the HFC network as 1 modem would be taking up over 60% of all of the available bandwidth per node at 4 channel configuration which is 160Mbps or and 8 channel bonding has about 320Mbps per node. My node has been upgraded to 8 channel bonding:

Downstream Bonded Channels

3 Locked QAM256 2 777000000 Hz -3.5 dBmV 37.0 dB 60954 1896
4 Locked QAM256 4 789000000 Hz -4.5 dBmV 36.4 dB 161199 1398

8 Locked QAM256 8 813000000 Hz -5.8 dBmV 35.0 dB 1068498 3311453

Upstream Bonded Channels
Channel Lock Status US Channel Type Channel ID Symbol Rate Frequency Power

4 Locked TDMA and ATDMA 12 2560 Ksym/sec 24500000 Hz 31.2 dBmV

North Texas (dallas metro) did not get 75/5 until 6 channel bonding was active and Kansas City got 100/5 when 8 channel bonding was activated.

where did you find a page saying 100/5 coming soon to Ohio? The only thing I can find for Ohio is the business class page saying that 100/5 is available only in Kansas City nothing about Ohio getting 100/5.

true I did find it on the website but I want to say that they won't be implementing it until they have 8 channels on the downstream for bonding otherwise the internet will slow down for everyone as it takes up 1/3 of the total available bandwidth with 8 downstream channels for 1 100Mbps tier customer so TWC is upgrading nationwide to 8 channels downstream and it may take a few more months for them to do Ohio as they will likely have to remove a few analogs or reposition the QAMs to make room for 8 channel bonding Dallas doesn't even have 100Mbps yet and we are in the process of having 8 channel bonding enabled to allow for it so I would not put it past TWC to remove about 3 to 4 analogs in Ohio areas unless they have bandwidth sitting open. TWC is doing the 8 channel bonding upgrade in NYC, LA, NC, SC, KS, MO, TX, NY state and various other areas.

I am not saying it won't happen but there is upgrades that TWC is doing nationwide to offer 100/5 and they have not been completed in Ohio yet they should be done soon if they are announcing the 100/5 tier online

then why are u sitting here bickering with me about it then because it only took TWC to update my area 4months for wideband and about 15-20 miles they dont even have wideband yet they are still on 15x2 setup.

I wasn't trying to bicker with you I was telling you that TWC is going to have to reallocate more bandwidth to DOCSIS and you were basically saying that no TWC is just going to rollout 100/5 without doing additional upgrades to allow for the faster speeds.

Yeah I see it too, that's great. 100/5 looks odd, should be 100/25 but look forward to 100/5 in NYC. I checked a few zips, none have 100/5 yet.

Sadly with fewer DOCSIS channels for upstream TWC does not seem to want to offer higher upstream speeds.. (Cox and Comcast are the only two cable providers I know who are willing to open up the Upstream beyond a few MB) [Which stinks for TWC -- because I would personally not go beyond 30/5 due to the limits on upstream].

To be honest, at 75/5 now and there is nothing I can't do at 75 down. 100 down won't matter to me. My biggest problem, like others, is the 5 upload.

I have not heard anything about speeds faster than 50Mbps down and according to the page referenced by OP the 100/5 tier is only available in KC. I have no idea why the upload cannot be increased at least to 10Mbps, and am every bit as disappointed in this fact as anyone else, but as of this posting, I can assure you that at least in NEO where I work, the HSD plans are what they've been for the past year+ now: 1/1, 3/1, 15/1, 20/2, 30,5 and 50/5.

Seeing the same thing your seeing here in TWC Columbus market.. It shows the tier but mentions "Kansas City Only" ... I am guessing it's been added to the global portal page as eventually they will roll it out to "other" markets when upgrades (8 channel bonding) are completed.

Same in DFW, except 50/5 was changed to 75/5 for Ultimate/Signature Home.

Well as much as I would like to believe, i think the 100/5 is gonna only be in select markets. Where as north texas has 8 channel bonding, down here in south texas still on 4. Again no incentive to compete unless you have FIOS or Google Fiber in the same AO

AT&T Uverse internet & voice, but not video, is finally coming to offer up some competition.

It's available in my area in the RGV up to 24mbps depending on where you live.

This probably won't spur TWC to upgrade the RGV to 8 channel bonding any sooner, but hopefully they will.

Still, I'm glad we have 50mbps in this area.

In the next year or so AT&T is going to upgrade a majority of the UVerse platform (VDSL2 side of things) to support speeds such as 45mb, 75mb, 100mb.. (this will take line cards in the VRAD, a new modem that can bond "two" line pairs, and a new vectoring scheme)...

I am guessing you'll see in markets that TW and AT&T compete that the 100mb tier will appear.

Not completely accurate, the best you can get with at&t uverse in the RGV is 18 NOT 24 mbps. I know this because our office is next to at&t's central office on bus 83.

One employee living only three blocks north can only get 12Mbps another employee living north of Pecan ave. can only get 3 Mbps.

24 Mbps is only for VDSL2 and uverse in south Texas is plain vanilla ADSL2+.

I know the guy that runs the »adslm.dohrenburg.net/vds ··· erse.php site and he says that the McAllen area is ready to accept 8 downstream channels. He used some kind of analyzer to show me the four downstream channels that we have and the next four channels that are empty (available).

We never had any real competition from at&t in this part of the woods and yet TWC have 50/5.

TWC is doing 8 channel bonding statewide it is taking a little while though as they are having to upgrade everyone again just like the original DOCSIS 3.0 upgrades and not to mention there has been some issues with the upgrades in North Texas. First areas to be upgraded to 8 channel bonding Dallas area, Wichita Falls, Greenville and then likely Central Texas and El Paso and then San Antonio and so on.
