adding a new set top
i inquired about adding a set top box to my existing service and the rep. said that I could do the wiring myself or have them to do it for a fee. How would I wire for the new box?

Do you have existing coax where the new STB will go?
If not, you'll need to run and terminate RG-6 coax from your main splitter to where the new STB will go.
