[BC] Shaw and PS3 error 80029564I've been having connection issues for quite a while now. When trying to download and install any and all updates or DLC on my PS3 I get the same error (80029564) at the 14% mark of installation.
I've tried over and over. I've tried connecting directly through my modem. I've tried 4 different routers. I've had a shaw tech come out and test 'levels' and swap my modem for a new one. All of which made no difference.
I am able to download and install on the first try by taking my PS3 to a friends house (who is also a shaw customer) and earlier today I successfully installed a 268mb update over my cell phone after failing 3-4 times on my shaw connection so I'm almost positive it is connection related.
I play a lot of Call of duty and lately I frequently see 'connection interrupted' flash on the screen during a match. This only usually last 2-5 seconds and then I can continue playing.
Speedtest.net pingtest.net and the shaw speed test all come back relatively normal and i dont notice issues when browsing the web or downloading files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've spent probably 8-10 hours on the phone with tech support for Shaw, sony and activision. All of which seem to blame the other for the problem. |

I saw someone request a traceroute in another thread. Not sure where i should trace to but i tried the same address as the other poster and these were my results:

sometimes, games have problems, the connection interrupted is caused by xbox lag, when the host gets lag, everyones connection is interrupted, and because xbox lag is so common in this game so is connection interrupted, i would deleted the file u were trying to download and try again from the start, make sure when u do this u have zero devices on the network to make sure ur not causing nat issues or something, if the download cuts out, go to your computer, test your speed, if you get a bad result, you found your problem, if not, its probably not shaws fault, probably sony's or treyarchs |

Are you able to download from any secured sites (HTTPS) I have seen other reports of neighborhood/city issues where all SSL downloads fail to pass checksum |

I havent tried, or at least haven't noticed, other downloads failing.
I have tried deleting all data related to COD, unfortunately i just kept getting the same error when trying to reinstall any of it. Sony also had me check the file system and rebuild the database through the PS3 safe mode.
Connor, its ps3 not xbox but the thing is its just me that gets teh connection interrupted. When i'm playing online i just ask the other players and they aren't seeing it. I also play online with friends that are local and they aren't seeing it either. |

I ran my own DHCP server and had my firewall rules too strict. Thinking DHCP only operated on one port (it doesn't).
When my lease expired, I would not renew, and get disconnected for a brief second while the DHCP DISCOVER was sent again.
Surfing the web I never noticed it was so brief. But I noticed when I borrowed my friends ps3's for a month that the game would disconnect a what seemed to be random intervals.
I corrected my firewall in my network solved the issue.
Have you tried timing the disconnects?
Check the length of your DHCP lease in the settings and see if it disconnects half way through the lease time or, the full lease time.
And then maybe try statically configuring the network on the PS3.
You mentioned you bypassed your router, so it may not be DHCP at all. It could be a bad cable, or network port.. but it works at your friends house. |

Ya, thing is that it still wont work when connected directly to the modem. I've also tried over wifi with no success so that rules out a bad cable. I have my PS3 set in the DMZ as well.
I got more verification of it being the connection yesterday when some content wouldn't install again and it, once again, worked at my friends place on the first try. |

If other Shaw connections work it won't be the area issue I was thinking of
Factory reset your modem, the Cisco had an update, mine (bridged modem) started having major issues after, until I reset it...
Hold reset pin for 30 seconds, unplug power, still holding the reset, wait 30 more seconds, plug back in, still holding the reset pin for another 30 seconds...
Takes a while (90 seconds holding the reset), but it fixed my connection issue |

I've actually already had shaw come out and replace the modem. The issue existed across both my SMC and now Cisco modems. |

have we tried putting the modem in bridge and trying like that without anything else on the network, i have a feeling like that would do it as that solved some issues with my brothers xbox randomly disconecting |

Hmm, weird issue. It must be related to your specific node if it is actually a problem on Shaw's end. I updated and downloaded the new map pack without any issues at all.
As far as gameplay connections, I rarely get connection issues but when I do it's from the server side and not local. Easiest way around that is to choose "Best" connection type in the COD connection options.
I hope you get this issue hammered out! |

The modem has been in bridge mode for years. Unfortunately that doesn't make a difference. I was able to install some updates the other day by tethering to my cell phone, but they still wont work over my Shaw connection. I'm no expert but I'm not exactly a noob either and this issue has me absolutely baffled. Shaw seems to have no idea what is causing the problems either. I just found out that I qualify for 50Mbps on Telus though, so that may be the only solution I have left at this point. |

Hey,
I'm not an expert on routing issues; but I'd like to pass this along to some of the networking guys and see if they have any suggestions for you.
PM me your account number and the best contact number for you; and we will see what we can do.
Cheers. |

Shaw_Alex I dont know if you did anything but after 2-3 weeks of never breaking 25mbps on speedtest's I'm now getting 40-50 mbps like i used to and suddenly my PS3 issue is gone!
Still no idea what the issue is as nothing has changed on my end so I'm guessing something changed on Shaw's end. |
