[TWC] email about TWC wifi hotspots. user operated?

got an email about TWC hotspots.
I didn't even know TWC had free hotspots, and I've been using RR for 2 years.

»coverage.twcwifi.com/

a lot of the hotspot locations are residential, houses, apts, etc.

Does TWC give these people some kind of compensation if they host hotspots?

TWC doesn't use residential gateways for the Wifi Network they have special hotspots attached to the cable lines running in the area near homes but no they don't have residential users modems serving as hotspots and besides the hotspots they have deployed cover more than a single residence in power output

Unrelated, but just took a look at the coverage map. I noticed that TWC has hotspots in several areas of Vermont, which is Comcast territory. Comments?

interesting.
I have a couple hotspots near parks around here. Probably no one uses them. I wonder how fast these hotspots are.

It has become a joint project between several cable companies. Comcast included. When in an area setup correctly (you'll see CableWiFi as an available wireless network) you can connect and surf on all the networks, if you have an account with one of the providers.

Go to »www.cablewifi.com for more info.

They've had them for a while now. I think I used one for the first time more than a year ago, when I was sitting out back at Tito's Tacos (in Culver City) and picked up a TWC WiFi signal.
