Of course I really liked the tv versions of The Stand and It so we'll just have to see. Bag of Bones really made me cynical though. One thing about Under the Dome I'm worried about is the ending. Kind of grim for network tv.
I beg to differ. I read the book "It" and it was way better than that steaming pile of dung of a miniseries. -- Illegal aliens have always been a problem in the United States. Ask any Indian. Robert Orben
The pilot was on last night, and is available On Demand.
I didn't realize it aired already, thanks for the heads up. I'll try and catch it tonight. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken
The Shining is the book to movie I find interesting. King hates the Stanley Kubrick version, And likes how the Miniseries was faithful to the book he wrote. Yet most people I know prefer the Stanley Kubrick version as a film to the miniseries version. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports
I haven't read the book but based on what was seen in the first episode:
It looks like this Dome was created by people (humans). They were able to shoot the Sheriff thru the Dome, after opening a small hole in it (which caused another short EMP burst that affected the Sheriff's pacemaker).
I don't think this Dome was an experiment as much as a "Show of Force".
I thought that the scene with the sheriff at the end was his pace-maker exploding or something, not him getting shot. I have no idea what really happened though. Whatever happens, I hope they resolve the kidnapping sub-plot quickly, because whenever that girl or her kidnapper are on the screen, the show gets a little worse for me. I haven't read the book. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken
I don't know yet what to think of this show. And yes the Sherrif got shot in the forehead, along with his pacemaker gone bloinky... pretty confusing. Can't wait for the next Episode to see how this is going to go.
And no, I haven't read the book. But I'm definitely piqued. --
The sheriff didn't get shot. His pacemaker exploded out of his chest when he kept his hand on the dome. It skipped a beat when the dome first came down. You can tell the dome has some kind of vibration, and people get 'shocked' when they touch it the first time...apparently it's not pacemaker friendly
I did read the book, and there are some pretty big differences so far. I'm ok with that as long as the end product is still good. Too early to tell for me so far. -- The world was movin' she was right there with it and she was
I finally watched this last night -- seems okay for some light entertainment. I agree the kidnapping bit needs to either be resolved quickly or part of something more sinister other than a late-teen schizophrenic episode
I also don't think that the sheriff was shot (I didn't see any damage to his forehead) but just that his pacemaker exploded because he got to close to the dome / touching it too much. -- ♬ Dragon of good fortune struggles with the trickster Fox ♬
I have to say I missed it on launch night because I was waiting for June 29 too! Not your fault darlicious, but I still blame you! Otherwise I'd have to blame myself, and that's just not gonna happen. -- The world was movin' she was right there with it and she was
BTW, I haven't read the book but... I still think the Sheriff was shot. His pacemaker acting up happened when The Dome was first put in place. And I think it acted up again because The Dome opened... but just a little bit... just enough for a projectile to get thru.
nothing hit his head, just his pacemaker blew, its some sort of energy barrier and seems to shock people like a van de graaff generator (you get a shock at first then you build up a charge the longer you're touching it -- »www.change.org/petitions/create-···imcity-4
That specific question was addressed in the show: Barbie said the only reason those soldiers wouldn't be communicating is that they've been ordered not to. -- The world was movin' she was right there with it and she was
I almost stopped watching when the Reverend put the burning trash can next to the curtains. That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen on TV. They couldn't find a better way to write that? ...
I thought it was pretty careless, he seemed to kick the trash can while leaving, and it ended up under the curtains. What surprised me was how everything instantly caught fire, as if the whole house was coated in an accelerant.
In any case, it could have been written better. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken
Absolutely loved The Simpson's Movie line in last nights episode. Good series so far. I love these types of shows. Big Jim reminds me a lot of Gray Anderson (Michael Gaston) in Jericho. In fact a lot of this series reminds me of Jericho aside from the main premises of being trapped under a dome instead of a nuclear holocaust, but a lot of the characters and a lot of the scenes take me back to specific parts of the first season. -- 4/17/13 - A Beautiful Day For Freedom, Thank You United States Senate!
