Re: Report notifications of Limited Basic tier encryption here

Chico, CA reporting.

100% encrypted. I was met with the dreaded "scrambled" message in WMC. I'll skip the DTA for an antenna. I just use my computer for basic programming anyways.

Re: Report notifications of Limited Basic tier encryption here

Jeannette, PA reporting. Channels are encrypted and service will cost $10 extra per month even at the lowest service level (~15 per month). I did not receive (at least never saw) a notification about this change.

OK, it looks like the greater Pittsburgh area might have gone encrypted today, as mikedz4 See Profile's area, located on the opposite side of Pittsburgh from you, was to go encrypted today also:

got a notice here in the northern panhandle of west Virginia on 9/24.

However, he appeared to have received this notification in early August.

Friend of mine complained at me that I jinxed him, he no longer has clear QAM as of today on the eastern border of Ohio. I guess that corroborates the Greater Pittsburgh area going dark.

It appears that State College, Pa has switched to encrypted channels this morning.

All my clear QAM PC tuners stopped working today. October 1. Now, thanks to Comcast, I have a bunch of worthless devices. Which reminds me, I need to cancel Comcast basic cable and switch to OTA ATSC.

No more HD with limited basic in 94549 (Lafayette CA). My wife waited in a 30 min line of angry customers at the Concord office and was finally able to get an HDMI-capable network adapter. (I owe her big time.) The SD channels are upconverted to HD and most are are cropped. But none of the HD channels are present.

Comcast will send you an RF-modulated NA by default, and the telephone customer service will deny, or is too poorly trained to know, that HD NA's exist. You'll have to go to a local store and exchange, it seems.

Sounds like your account information is not set properly to allow you to tune the HD channels. See dishrich See Profile's posts about this in his HD-DTA review thread:

Also check what he says about adjusting things in the HD-DTA's HDMI setup menu: »[DTA] HD-DTA's are here in Springfield, IL - a review
