Re: IMG 1.9.4 Yep, I've provide Verizon with details and STB logs. To me the problem seems to occur as other recordings are starting or stopping. |

My DVR has locked up twice since they rolled out this IMG. It was pretty stable before. But since last Tuesday, I had full lock up and missed a bunch of recordings on Friday night and again tonight.

Typically at least 1 sometimes 2 weeks between dacs but a bigger delay after the first dac. They usually skip month ends and they also have to work around other updates occurring within their network.
Any large volume of problems reported and they slow down or even start over with a new version. |

Is there a support page that shows what VHO belongs in a DAC? What is a DAC? |

danman48, do you recall how your box recovered from lock up? And, how long did the lock up last? |

Good info there. I'm from NYC but not in Queens which is the only borough in NYC listed in the list can I assume all of NYC belongs to DAC 5? |

Second time I was able to use the Set Top Box restart function from the mention. The lock ups lasted until I reset the box. |

Is it too early to assume that I could directly connect this VMS to my switch in my room ( instead of coax ) and also the Client box to my other switch i have in my Family Room with an Ethernet cable I have right behind my tv ? As I have connected my tv, BluRay player , av receiver now ?
Or does it support just wifi and coax , no Ethernet ?
Plugging it in directly would be sweet, IMO . I'd def prefer Ethernet over coax and wifi any day. If I had that option.
Thanks.
P.S. if a device like a tv or in this case A client STB, says you can steam video ( tv channels ) via wifi, I would automatically assume one could do the same with a direct Ethernet connection.
My point if all this is that I am worried I can't directly connect the Server and Client STB to switches bc the ports will not be enabled . Also bc they didn't say anything about Ethernet port on back actually useable in place of wifi and coax. Not one mention of that.
Sorry for this little rant. My b. Lol |

All of NYC, LI, Westchester, and perhaps some other areas. Used to also include RI and Some parts of Mass, but those got a new DAC just before the rollout to those areas with 1.9.1.
Bad news is that DAC 5 has often been last or next to last in each rollout. |

Having done embedded development the Ethernet port may have only been used for development & debug. I worked on various embedded designs over the years that disabled Ethernet or removed the Ethernet port/jack on the final product. |

Some of those horrible upgrades from the past never even made it to DAC 5. When I see Verizon STB bugs I always know how to deal with them since they have already been discussed for months on this forum.
Still no TVG HD is kind of a bummer. Shockingly TVG does have the occasional decent movie which I would prefer in HD. |

thetick,
So are you saying that technically, this VMS and Client box can have WiFi, but won't support Ethernet?
If this turns out to be so, I think that would not make any sense at all. Ethernet is def more reliable than wifi. IMO
Not to mention it's a lot easier to run an Ethernet cable than a coax cable somewhere.
Tv's say Wifi built in, but you can also plug in directly to the LAN port. Same thing for Apple TV, BluRay Players etc.
So idk why one can't use the LAN port on this Server or Client Box, if one chooses to. |

The original Roku is a good example of wifi with no ethernet you may be familiar with. It only had wifi , but the there's ethernet hardware on the board. It's disabled and an ethernet jack was never included with the final product. The ethernet was used for the prototype ONLY for development, debug, and testing. |

1 edit | I believe I am currently receiving the IMG 1.9.4 update. My TV and STB were turned off (I have a 7232) , then a while later , I came back and my STB was on. I turned my TV on, and it does not show any Guide info. I only can change channels up and down.
I believe that is indicative on an IMG update, if my memory serves me well from the past.
Also, to check this, I went downstairs and my other STB turned itself on. I as well turned the TV on, and same thing is happening.
If this is the update, ok. I hope it doesn't take too ling to download.
I am in VHO7.
Update: After about 30mins of no Guide, The boxes just rebooted, However, there is still now Guide. MAybe it is loading now for another 1/2 hour. |

3 edits | After about 1:45 mins, both my STBs shut off. I assume that the IMG update is complete.
Just checked, and after I got the FiOS startuo screen, everything seems good to go.
Both my boxes now say: IMG 1.9.4 ; Build Number: 16:13 ; Data Object Version: 36:13 |

 | If there is nothing that seems to be different besides a few menu items etc, then maybe this update was a backend enhancement or something.
I only say this because going from 1.9 to 1.9.1 , there was a physical change in the Guide background and colors (ex: the Channel Guide went from grey to dark blue) , and they brought the Mini Guide. If I remember correctly.
If it was a backend enhancement then even if we can't see any changes, the improvements are on their end. And I am fine with that. |

At 9:30 Am today, after reading this thread that people im my VHO had the update, I turned on my 7232 just before going to work, & it came up on the last viewed channel from the night before , when I tried a keypress on the remote a box appeared in the upper right of the screen that said " We are currently downloading an update to your box. This will only take a minute, and remote keys will not function until completed" I had never seen this before, the box & TV was obviously "on" & tuned to a channel, not apparently downloading .... After a min, the remote keys were responsive, and I checked & now have 1.9.4 ... I had to get to work & didn't check the other boxes .. I can verify that the info bar you bring up by pressing play on a show that was previously recorded now has the current time clock in the upper left, same as live info bar, this had been missing in 1.9 & has been restored ... |

As an update to my post above, when I got home from work, I turned on a 7100 bedroom box, & the same message appeared in the upper right while tuned to a station as soon as I hit a remote key, & it needed a min ... |
