Optimum online free upload speed upgrade

I have the basic 15 down/2 up plan, first came the free upgrade for download speeds, now upload speed has been upgraded to: 5Mb, nice.

Speed op reports most like due to inaccurate speed test

No such luck here either, i'll reboot my modem at home later but so far seems it's all normal speeds for me.

I noticed the increased speed while uploading, then I tested to confirm, I'm in Brooklyn, my building has FIOS available, FIOS offers 5Mbs Up in their basic plan, I guess Optimum decided to match that??

its an error on your side or CV's side and will eventually go away in time.

It is a shame that CV has deliberately crippled the ability to view the modem settings via DOCSDIAG on DOCS3 modems or the actual provisioned speeds can be viewed. Of course if you still have a DOCS2 modem with standard tier, you still have the ability to see if you have 2Mbs or 5Mbs upload provisioning.

run this test »web100.rit.edu:7123/ (it requires java)

Why do you believe it to be an error? Verizon is offering 5mbs up, I can switch to them at any time, as I have no contract, would it not make sense that Cablevision knows this, and that's why they upgraded me, I have the Arris TM802, can I view modem settings?

I see the raised upload speed and somewhat fluctuating pings indicating that the network is being worked on / calibrated.

My modem spontaneously rebooted and pulled a new IP early this morning (according to router logs, as we unfortunately have no way to access modem registers to read provisioning, which would be quite helpful.)

I'm seeing mostly 18/5's as of now [7PM].

I test on the OOL NY,NY Java test and the several NJ tests on Speedtest.net .

Let's give them a chance, as it seems obvious to me that they are calibrating the network for better performance which was somewhat overdue.

FWIW I have FIOS as a choice in both households [Brooklyn and LI].

It is not an error. The folks I spoke with indicate a network-wide speed re-calibration.

I'm on Boost+ (8 Mbps upload). Wonder if it will be increased.

I sure hope that it does. It would only make sense if 2-> 5. My guess is maybe, 12-15? somewhere around there and then Ultra will get boosted up to a higher speed as well.

No upload speed changes yet for me on OOL boost.

My speeds are terrible right now in brooklyn, Boost+. Pages and downloads are timing out. Unusual for me, as service has been pretty much solid for 4 years! Came here to see if anyone else was having issues. Hopefully this is all better by tomorrow and I have a speed boost

No fios available here in PA so after a modem reboot we're still under 2mbps

No changes noted here. I got 17.10 down, 2.07 up, using the java test from RIT. Similar from Speedtest.

Did you unplug/replug the power cord from your modem?

does this affect customers in southampton ?
i would SNMP both docsis2 modems i have here to see if there are pending changes upon reboot but that and a reboot is not possible at this time due to the manner of function utilization both modems are performing.

That has nothing to do with your upload speed setting.

When can we expect an official press release from Cablevision outlining this?

Is it just the basic tier?
Will boost plus see a boost?
How about Ultra and the rumored removal of the 300 activation fee?

BSB

@optonline.net

I have heard that boost is going 50/25. I have not heard if/what Ultra will get bumped to.
