Xbox Lite?

It's rumored that Microsoft may have a few tricks up their sleeve to be unveiled at next week's E3 (like an "Xbox Lite" that plays videos but not games)...

Is it just me, or does that seem like the exact opposite of what a "lite" version of the Xbox should be?

That's like a "lite" car that does everything a normal car does, except move.

Re: Xbox Lite?

How about an xbox lite that just plays games?

Many people already have smart devices hooked to their TVs, and don't need yet another remote to deal with.

That would be nice. The Xbox 360 has media capability but has a big gaping hole when it comes to using MKV files. Microsoft made a big deal when they added AVI support to it, but it was just as mkv was taking off.

I know it represents non-copyright protected files, but I want a media box that can play anything, not just streaming or proprietary formats. This means I don't need the media portion of the Xbox One.

Re: Xbox Lite?

Indeed. Plus the power drain.

I've got a box running XBMC that pulls 30watts out of the wall.

My xbox slim pulls 90w doing nothing.
