Who needs ~8 million credits? I've never used any that I have collected since last August. First couple of members to reply via this thread gets them (split in half). |

My probe stopped working right many months ago. Changed the USB stick rebooted it and it worked for about 10 minutes. Then it just reboots constantly. When I go to ripe atlas it shows the 10 minutes that it is connected then it shows it disconnecting. |

Well, you have every credit that I had accumulated (7.8 million).
What do you do with them (the experiments)? I've never really looked into it. |

I set up a v4 ping from all AS 7922 (Comcast) to DSLR because Comcast paid for the probes for a lot of DSLR users (as well as many other) in july '13. The second one set up later was a v6 ping from all 7922 probes to a RIPE target in Ann Arbor, MI --the closest v6 target to the current DSLR host to compare the v6 latency If you go to the RIPE site and register you can see the map and watch as network conditions and individual user demand causes the latency to change. Ripe now has many more tools for setting up and viewing data from many thousands of probes world wide measuring all sorts of things, but the basic idea was with enough probes distributed as widely as possible internet (and attached network) health and problems could be viewed and studied both real time and after the fact. It is fascinating to watch and see both the events and monitoring ideas pop up and evolve. |

Seeking community feedback on draft RIPE Atlas Service Terms and Conditions » www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/a ··· 489.html
Vesna Manojlovic BECHA at ripe.net Mon Sep 15 17:50:50 CEST 2014 Dear colleagues, As RIPE Atlas transitions from a pilot project to a production service, we want to publish RIPE Atlas Service Terms and Conditions that describe the use of the service and spell out both the user's and the RIPE NCC's obligations. We have published these proposed terms and conditions, along with an implementation plan, on RIPE Labs. Please take a look and let us know what you think. Your feedback is valuable, and and want to ensure we keep the community involved in every step of the process. » labs.ripe.net/Members/be ··· -serviceThe main discussion about this should happen on the MAT Working Group Mailing List. We are asking to receive all feedback by the end of the RIPE 69 meeting in London, which takes places 3-7 November. Once the MAT Working Group Chairs have determined that consensus has been reached, a final version of the terms and conditions will be published. We're aiming to do so before the end of the year, so that RIPE Atlas can become a full production service by January 2015. Kind regards, Vesna Manojlovic Senior Community Builder Measurements Community Building RIPE NCC

While I was visiting the home page for the probe I host, I noticed a new, albeit in beta test, parameter on the probe, system tags. The system tags show items such as whether or not the probe can properly resolve AAAA records, A records, etc. Cool stuff. In any case, here's some info on what the future may hold .... » labs.ripe.net/Members/su ··· ing-soon"...We've also introduced a new feature called system tags to probes. These tags, which are added automatically by the RIPE Atlas system, include whether the probes are working or not over IPv4 and IPv6, their DNS resolution ability, and which generation (version) the probe is. These are fully managed by the system, so users cannot add or remove them. Right now system tags are in beta stage. We're still tweaking the settings based on our own experiences and user feedback, so be sure to tell us what you think...." imho, if you use the probes for measurements, the linked article is worth a read. As a side comment, I want to mention that the Atlas Probe mailing list is a great place to discuss the probe and/or questions you may have. » www.ripe.net/mailman/lis ··· pe-atlas |

Comcast (US) has joined RIPE Atlas anchors » www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/a ··· 715.html
Dear RIPE Atlas users, We're happy to announce that another RIPE Atlas anchor joined the network and is now available as a target for probe hosts conducting their own user-defined measurements. The new anchor is called us-den-as7922 and it is hosted by Comcast in Denver, United States. Congratulations to Comcast for their second anchor online! Anchoring measurements (ping, ping6, traceroute and traceroute6) are scheduled towards this anchor from all the other anchors as well as several hundred probes, providing a continual overview of regional reachability. Results of these measurements are available as raw data in JSON format, and visualised on the map and "seismograph" with many configurable features. You can access the anchoring measurements for all anchors at: » atlas.ripe.net/anchors/list/Learn more about RIPE Atlas anchors at: » atlas.ripe.net/about/anchors/Thank you for participating in RIPE Atlas! Kind regards, Measurements Community Building Team RIPE NCC mcb at ripe.net

I applied a while ago, before summer and got an email a few weeks ago (yes, october) saying I still haven't activated my probe. I never received an email saying I was accepted or anything? I emailed support and he said he just sent another one out, and that was it.
Are there no tracking information for these devices, or do we know where they even get sent from? |

said by Tyler:Are there no tracking information for these devices, or do we know where they even get sent from? That might depend on whether you requested a probe from Comcast, or directly from RIPE. FWIW, I got mine directly from RIPE (shipped from The Netherlands), and as I recall it was delivered by the USPS as regular first class mail (and I do not remember noticing any indication of a tracking number). I suspect that the little TP-Link boxes cost RIPE less than the cost of paying for tracking/delivery notification (assuming that TP-Link doesn't just donate them to RIPE for PR/free advertising purposes). |

My request was through a link early on in this thread. I have received four emails since October 7 this year. One of them, from "Comcast RIPEAtlas" has instructions on registering an account. Another is from UPS with a tracking number, through which I got the expected delivery date. |

What are the odds, it was sitting in my mailbox when I got home from work, fresh from Amsterdam. Is it supposed to have a 4 gig micro usb drive sticking out of it? |

Back in early September I received an e-mail from the Comcast group in charge of sending the RIPE units. The letter said that since I expressed interest in one that I had to respond to the e-mail to have it sent. I did respond saying I already had a registered unit. Did anyone else get a letter even though they already had one? |

After a month of waiting, I have received my ATLAS probe direct from the Netherlands. I got it registered and running..neat little box. Anyone have any pointers on how I should set it up beyond the stock settings?
