RFID sim cards. good, bad, no effing way ?

#
##So what are peoples impressions on having a sim card in your phone that is also a RFID chip(NFC) in it?

I like technology but one day we will look like RollerCoaster Tycoon with their little name/number floating over their heads.
Contact chips I do prefer.

--First a quick disclaimer: From the video and what I've found to read is the sim has an rfid in it and does not require a NFC phone. But an NFC phone will use its NFC to access the sim for payment company credentials.

Are people lazy that they can't be bothered with contact chip credit/debit cards that require a 4 digit password?

Yes I know that people would rather have just their smart-phone with them and nothing else. But people do tend to leave their phones places and manage to hold onto their multiple payment cards. So having a lock on your phone that actually works would be very needed.

They keep marketing these things for convenience, but might as well put a rfid under your skin.

There are the usual security issues with RFID's.
*No encryption. The sim rfid says that it has each compartments specified for each type of payment with just a reference number.
*Can be read by anyone. Heres a app for your android to read RFID embedded cards,

The NFC in your particular Android may need to be no more than 1" away to read.
*Disclaimers of the RFID contents being only a number which interacts with the pay terminals computer system direct to the payment company for authorization. Which means a number can be scrapped from the air and as long as no pin is needed and hey nobody can see the rfid card, and you can write that to a fake rfid, hey free stuff.

*Plus of course stores/malls being able to scan for the chips distinct number with a high powered reader and make a data trail for repeat chip carriers. Like Nordstrom that was scanning for wifi pings on smartphones.

*For distance of reading, Look at your new car with an rfid in your rim as a tire gauge. For those in northern climates, you took off your summer tires ,put on the winters already on other rims and now your dash says you have 4 flat tires as the new rims don't have rfid's.

From the video on the manufacturers site,

"Look inside the SIM"
it appears the sim(V4?) will have an NFC radio in it, with no off switch like your phone has for its NFC, with the its notes of being for phones that don't have an NFC hardware.

I won't be using one anytime soon. NFC is turned off, straight LTE SIM, and no 'Wallet' of any kind on the device.

So lets see....10 years from now you are in a nightclub. You dont particularly want to end up with either an android or a human with an RFID implant..... so you have an app on your phone and have it set to vibrate.....so even before you buy them a drink you know what you are getting into right??? Sounds like a good short story......
