Re: Faster Speeds? said by Clocker1000:I call BS on this. Just being upgraded to faster speeds is not going to change how a given person uses their internet connection. It will allow them to do what they are already doing that much faster and maybe even relieve congestion on the network.
But the thing people do that takes bandwidth is watch video. And even Netflix new 'super' HD only needs about 7Mb. You can't watch any faster even if you have more bandwidth than that. And BTW, Wow! supports the SHD but oddly, Comcast doesn't. |

 | and what happens when you have 4 people trying to watch an shd stream and you're trying to download a bunch of games you just bought because of the big steam sale? you can easily max out 50mb |

I see bandwidth like money. If you give it to people, they will find a use for it in time. |

Also like money in the sense that I never have enough. No matter how much I have and no matter how much more I get, I will always need more. |

said by Jim Kirk To each their own. Not your place to judge. [/BQUOTE :Maybe - I'm all for higher speeds being available, but not if the price of the lower tiers would end up being raised to cover the needed equipment - which seems very likely to me. Something that actually delivers 15Mb down covers a lot of people's needs. |

you want your 4 & 7yo kids watching an r rated movie with you? you think a 4yo girl is going to want to watch the same show as their 7yo brother? maybe mom is catching up on the soap opera she missed. and the teenage son is downloading a game.
apparently you dont know what its like having multiple kids with different tastes. is family time good? yes. should they be forced to have family time at all times, just because they cant do more than 1 thing at a time on their internet? no. |
|
 | SHD at 7MB/S is the extreme, though, and those kids videos aren't going to be SHD. 2 or 3 MB/S would be a more typical video stream. |

Actually that's baloney as well, as the average user is immersed in a media rich web environment that the user would get frustrated with the slowness of dialup. |

 | That just proves most people have the 15/2 tier or lower.
It's an average of everyone.
Just goes to show how overpriced WOW is when it comes to 30/3 and 50/5 speeds. |
