Was there an earlier post explaining why there is a delay? Not that I'm complaining, better to work correct than not. Just seeing if they explained why.

We were told that they were waiting on some setbacks for building new facilities.

We have now had a string commitment from them that we should remain on track. We have confirmation for additional links that also confirm for us that they are indeed likely to come through. I'm pleased with the progress and the commitment expressed for the remainder of the project.

Why was London pushed back 2 weeks? (just wondering, still happily waiting)

EDIT - Guessing London is among those that needs the facilities upgraded?

So as of wednesday we'll be able to put in orders to switch for TPIA to ATPIA package changes? Or can we do that before then?

I think Thornhill is served by NewKirk POI (Richmond Hill)
I'm not sure but I think they went to ATPIA back on May 13th?

At about 2pm I was convinced this wouldn't come out today, so I stopped looking for it.. No one is ever permitted to step away from dslreports, not even for a second, ever!!

Anyway, great to see. Any details about how things work behind the scenes are going to be helpful, but a 3 week delay is not a big deal at all for big changes like these.

I usually keep DSLr open in a tab at all times anyways - along with irc and all my other stuff.

I'd suggest you run a trace route and confirm what POI you're on first to be sure then maybe report here again when you're certain. Also Marc or one of the other TSI forum staffers will probably be able to tell you more then.

You are most likely on newkirk which has already been migrated and it is possible that your postal code has yet to be flipped due to error.

Can you please email me your account details and your current IP and I will work my magic for you

I have a question - why is TekSavvy customer support telling me

a) That Dupont has already been migrated (and my postal code does return the new plans)

b) That my SB6121 is incompatible with 150/10

Because Dupont was *supposed* to have been set up June 3rd but got delayed to June 17th Monday next week...

And the SB6120/6121 are only capable of 4x4 bonding and can't handle the overhead at the higher tiers so you'll need a new 8x4 modem like the Thomson 476. ( I know I have the sb6120 and plan to buy the thomson 476 very soon myself ).

Hey Nupogodi,

Thank you for your post, to clarify the modem question.

The motorola modems only bond 4 channels up and down each, the Thompson/technicolor modems such as the DCM476, the Huawei MT130U bond 8 channels down and 4 channels up. Only the modems I have listed are the modems that are on the approved list for the 150 package.

As for the packages being available to you, the site may have been updated prematurely and the reps are informing you that it is done because when entering your postal code it will reflect the new packaging. The Dupont upgrade is tentative for the 17th.

But specs for the SB6121 say that 172Mbps is possible with 4 channel bonding ... I bought this modem because I thought I was future-proof!

It doesn't matter what is possible, it's not very efficient to use that few channels for that speed and Rogers won't allow it.

Sadly there's really no such thing as future-proof in the tech world. The good news is you can probably sell the 6121 for a decent amount given that it's proven-working...some buyers prefer these to new since they know they are not getting a brick. It might not cost a lot to switch to the 8X4 modem.

I'm in the same boat with my 6120, I've decided to just go with 45/4 for now.

Read through this a bit . . . ATPIA Modems

Also in another thread, theres talk of a rent to own modem plan - Here: Modem Options
said by TSI Marc:

For DOCSIS3 modem:

- Finance/Rent-to-own D3 modem: $30 down + $15/mth for 6 months. (first month $45)

The net effect on the Finance options is that the upfront costs are effectively cut in half. This is to help those who are looking for ways to spread costs over time.

Alright. Well, TekSavvy sold me a Technicolor DCM476 for ~$125 all-in so I hope that was a good choice.

It's what there is right now for 150/10. If you have trouble selling the 6121, feel free to let it be knows, I'm sure someone here could find a buyer (I might even take it, a friend is considering signing up with Start and could probably use it).
