[Outlook] IMAP setting for yahoo on outlook
I've just configured yahoo email on Outlook, and I got all my folders from yahoo on Outlook aswell. I came to know from someone that after doing the same, the folders and mails from my original yahoo account server would get deleted after sometime. Is it true and if so how to prevent it? P.S. My outlook is not showing the "leave the message in the folder option" in advance setting.

said by Sillyboi :Your "someone" does not know how IMAP works. IMAP is a protocol for synchronizing server folders to the client. Basically, what is on the server will show up in the client. If it is not deleted from the server, it will not be deleted from the client. If Yahoo! were to unilaterally delete messages and folders from the server, it would not be an IMAP service. Unless the user initiates the deletion, no deletion should happen.

Some users, lacking this knowledge, and trying to save space on Computer A, will delete messages from Computer A. Since IMAP is a synchronizing protocol, the server then synchronizes the server messages with the Computer A messages, removing the messages from the server; they cannot then be accessed from Computer B. Because they are no longer on the server.
IMAP is not the same as POP3. Because messages stay on the IMAP server until the user deletes them, there is no need for a "Leave the message in the folder option" with an IMAP account. Messages automatically stay where the user puts them.
P.S. My outlook is not showing the "leave the message in the folder option" in advance setting.
