1 edit | stupid question - does this mean i can get sprint LTE now?
rolling the dice, just ordered the new device. Sprint map shows me in a "fair" area. all i know is it has to be better than this sierra u250 modem. |

said by rb5505:what are the average dl speeds on this 3g plan? There are minimum specs, however, for all of Sprint's services. They are posted at »shop2.sprint.com/en/shop/why_spr···13:4GLTE . Once you have that loaded, click the Speeds tab and you'll see them. Minimum download speed spec for 3G is 600kps, minimum upload speed spec for 3G is 350k, minimum download speed spec for 4G WiMax is 3mps, minimum download speed spec for 4G LTE is 6mps, minimum upload speed for 4G LTE is 2mps. For some reason, they no longer list it there, but the last publicly released minimum upload spec for 4G WiMax was 500k.
Every one of those specs have huge asterisks associated with them, none of which are acknowledged by Sprint, with all of which most on this forum are painfully familiar. I won't go through those asterisks (others on this forum are ready to do so usually), but the bottom line is that if you're not getting the performance I've listed above, then you can legitimately complain to your provider, I think, regardless of the asterisks. |

I can't be the only one out there that is jumping on this new modem. But at the moment haven't got shipping notice yet. |

Does this modem have a external antenna port? |
|

So if you wanted to use the U770, is there any difference getting it for the BYOD Plan or should I just go over to the Unlimited Plan since I am guessing it's the same thing? |

I am in the Sprint "Fair" area. I got 1 bar with the modem alone -108dbm and it wasn't usable. I attached my cyfre 819 amp and an omni directional which gave me -105dbm and a lot of drops. I installed a grid antenna and now see -90dbm and speeds around 11mbps down/4.5mbps up. |

| In that case, there is definitely something strange happening in midtown Manhattan, zip 10022. Without any external antenna or any boost at all, I'm getting -87dbm, and yet I'm getting download speeds way below spec, as follows:

I'm at a loss to account for this. Notice that the upload is actually above Sprint's 2 to 3 mbps spec, so I doubt if this has anything to do with a lot of users. If anyone reading this has any theory about what's going on I'd love to hear it. I've asked this question before and one DSL Reports poster said he had once seen something similar but had never heard about its being repaired or what the cause was. |

1 recommendation | It's LTE. It's a Tri-Fi, and I had it configured for 4G Only, LTE Only in the Advanced Settings Device Setup menu.
If I set it to WiMax Only instead of LTE Only, I'm getting completely satisfactory results, signal strength of -58dbm, and speeds well within Sprint's 3-6mbps WiMax spec on their Speeds tab at »shop2.sprint.com/en/shop/why_spr···13:4GLTE , as follows:

On the 3G side, I'm getting -53 dbm and fairly typical speeds, and I haven't used that in days. I looked through my results for the last few days, and I believe this was one of those 3G speed tests:
