Does rogers still use motorola surfbaord modems?

Neighbors upstairs still have a webstar modem..yes one of those really old ones...lol.
Its prone to dropping connections if the lines get bad and not renewing .

Now i still have my old surfboard which would save them whatever modem few rogers charges and update them to something from the last 7 years.

If they are having signal related problems with the Webstar, then chances are they'll still have problems with any modem there until the poor signal conditions are fixed. The signal specs for all DOCSIS modems are remarkably similar, which is why the "replace the modem" fix that Rogers often offers for problem solving rarely does work!

Yes they still use surfboard, and they can activate it for you as long as the modem you have was purchased from Rogers.

But as sbrook said, a signal issue likely won't be resolved by swapping modems.

Naw have the bad lines being addressed so iam not expecting it to fix that issue.

The webstar though never grabs a ip again if it looses it until you hard reboot regardless of the state of the lines.

What do you mean the webstar never grabs an IP? It gets an internal IP address to go online. Then that allows your computer or router to get an external IP address.

If the modem DOESN'T get an internal IP then it means that there are problems during the initialization process and that's usually a signal issue. Any modem you connect is therefore going to have the same problem.

The modem logs and signal strength stats will tell a lot here.
