SO did I - now it's paid for so I can wait awhile before considering a DOCSIS3 modem (looking at the SB6141 )

haha. absurd.

I bought a cheap $10 cisco DPC2100R2 modem off ebay when they first started charging the rental fee. It's been reliable. I'm no sucker.

Only customers that are going directly to TWC for HSI services are being charged this. 3rd party ISPs do not charge for the modem that is provided by TWC and 100% fully warrantied by them.

nope. In my area, most people are on ATT Uverse, so no one else is sharing my node.

I get full speed 24/7. and 15mbit is plenty fast for me. I download over 150gb per month, no problem.
