[Connectivity] Insight CMH Outage 1am 06/17/13.

Anyone else in Columbus loose service?

My connection went down around 1am on 06/17/13....

I was remote so I could not troubleshoot.. Got home about 4am found the modem was synced but my router could not connect... (still had the 75.187.xx.xx) IP I have had since I had Insight installed.

Anyways -- rebooted my router ... pulled a 65.x IP now.

I did a "traceroute" from network-tools.com to my new IP I noticed something different ....

The new 65.x ip:

I did a tracert to the old 75.x IP I had prior to my connection dying...

On the old IP the traceroutes always "mentioned" Insight.rr.com on the last few hops before it timed out but on my new (working) IP it refers to "midohio.rr.com" now...

I am guessing my connection dying is part of the "move" from Insight RR to Time Warner Internet Services (which is to happen in Columbus July 1st).

sadly speed is still 20 down / 1mb up.

Another outage this morning (looking at modem logs appeared to be at least 3 hours)...

modem came back online but had to power cycle router to get another IP address (different subnet again) (76.xxx.xxx.xxx) now..

Signal levels changed

Starting this week I was around -7.9 dBmV for the 6 down stream channels and about 38.0 dBmV for the upstream 3 channels

Then after Monday mornings outage.. I went to -5.6 dBmV for the 6 downstream channels and 40.0 dBmV for the upstream 3 channels.

After this mornings outage..

Signal levels for the 6 down stream channels are around 1.4 dBmV to 2.0 dBmV and SNR is 42.5 dBmV.

The 3 upstream channels are now 41.0 dBmV...

Time Warner must be having fun times messing around with Insight's network.

I called to get credit for outage and the "national road runner" center said they couldn't do nothing to help with billing concerns.

I hope these "outages" every other day are done soon.. I need my internet to work!

(here's to hoping they fixed the bug in their system that causes my 5341J modem to resync every 12 hours when it gets a "Missing BP Configuration Setting TLV Type: 17.9;CM-MAC") causing my connection to briefly drop.

People can say what they want about AT&T but I never had these type of outages with UVerse.

Yea I was dealing with those too, they claim its due to cutting the fiber over to TWC.

The good news with the "outage" my modem briefly looses connection now about every 84 hours instead of 12 hours on the dot

Yea rember how they said my modem was bad.....guess what is hooked up and working....

I swear they will say anything to get that modem rental fee.

yeah -- Last time I had someone out.. you could have swore the tech was gonna have a "coronary attack" at the site of a "NON Lease Modem"

Guess the time is near! Tried to login to Insight's Online bill Pay:

"We are in the process of transferring your account to Time Warner Cable and are unable to accept payments until ( Monday, July 01, 2013). Simply log in to the Insight Online Bill Pay site on or around ( Monday, July 01, 2013) to receive your new Time Warner Cable Account number and Customer ID, which you’ll need to sign up for TWC’s online billing site, My Services. "

As of 7am no... as of 2pm this afternoon yes! I have a TWC ID now and can login to My Services... That part was painless... now tryin to get the "chat reps" to upgrade service.. hah that seems impossible... Something tells me we're more or less still Insight 100% except billing and the name they give when they answer the phone... It's the same turd with a fresh polish.

Yea I called the number in the email (and after a 30 minute wait) talked to India who saw no issue with the order and adviced with her superior before she processed it, then said she couldn't yet, that there arnt any plans in what will be offered more yet.

I wanted to change into SignatureHome, as everything that comes with I have now, minus the faster speed.

Is everything you have equipment wise showing up on MyServices?

Yes my modem is showing up in My Services (I own my own DOSCIS 3) modem. (It shows up as "customer owned or purchased" when I highlight it... Funny thing the Insight rep who added to the account used the HFC MAC ID as the serial -- I can't help but laugh.. I guess that's why when I called to ditch that modem lease a few months they didn't care to ask me for the serial!

I don't have cable or phone services with them.

Yea mines is the same Modem MAC is used for SN, and shows customer owned.

Still good ol 20/1 .. I tried rebooting my modem for the fun of it.. wishful thinking

Oh in other news..

I looked and now I am bonding 7 downstream / 3 upstream instead of 6 downstream and 3 upstream that I had prior to rebooting... seems odd to be 7 but then again Insight's network was never anything less.

This is fun.. called in to my "local office" Just called and got transferred around to 3 different sales reps... most recent "account person" said they would gladly be able to help me change my services (I requested to downgrade to Road Runner Standard because I paying $54.95 for "turbo" but getting 20 down 1 up...) that didn't sit well with sales who said "oh I can upgrade you to Extreme" .. sure enough after a lengthy hold "I need to get you to an Insight rep" ... mind you I called 236-1200 and the first thing I asked "I am a former Insight customer, CAN you help me" and got "oh yes I can we are all time warner cable"

Soon as AT*T Uverse offers that tier with a 10 mb up stream they are rumored to be offering I may be switching... This is not great customer service for a "transition" There is nothing Technically limiting in the provisioning system from giving me the proper Turbo tier (20 down / 2 up).

(and if they can't -- I should not be paying the FULL price 54.95 and not getting the speed that belongs to it).

** oh they got mad when I told them I didn't want to get cable TV services .. they tried to sell me a "good deal" and when I said I didn't want TV they said "what you don't watch tv" we really want you to take our tv services.

In my experience as someone who has experience with doing cable support in the past for another company in other state.. they are not handling this transition as well as they could.

[There is way to much transfering you around a long wait on an IVR and reps not knowing they can't do things]

After being transferred to 4 different phone reps I really finally got someone who could downgrade me to "standard" internet...

(I asked her if she was able to help with Insight -- and apparently that's a "naughty" word for them because shes like "There is no insight, we are time warner cable" I informed "I understood that however I have been transferred around to various reps despite the fact I called 236-1200 and your IVR asked for my phone # for looking up account information I just want to make sure I am routed to someone who can help me) since apparently their "screen pop" technology they use is mus-routing calls to call centers who can't help former insight customers.

I informed her I don't want to pay for Turbo if I am not going to get turbo speeds (since I am not bundled I am paying 54.95 a month for turbo but only getting the 20/1) .. she downgraded me in 2 seconds and my modem took the new config file.

I feel like as a Time Warner customer I am a "3rd world citizen" to them.. since I came from the "land of Insight"

"My services" now says under recent activity:

"Standard Internet 10x1"

Insight Lives! (even if Time Warner does not want to admit it).

My hope for "Extreme" is far fetched (Or Just proper provisioning on the Turbo tier) and I don't think we'll see it any time soon.. even if parts of Insight's area can handle it.

If you didn't know that Time Warner took over you would think it was business as usual at Insight ... You would think that now that all 3 markets are Time Warner that they would redirect the website... but no.. even all the "promos" still appear .. as if "Insight" was as if Insight was still running as normal.
